pezHands up anyone who really wants David/Emma.
*puts hand up*
(Emma/David would of course also be good, but I mean David/Emma, and not just because he's her boss. I can see him on top in this. Emma might try to dodge him for a long time to start with, though. >D)

Date: 2009-09-11 01:06 pm (UTC)And when Emma keeps dodging, David have a grumble with Rush about the whole thing and Rush at first is Really Shocked but then later he gets used to the idea and just laughs at Dave. Because that's what best mates are for!

Date: 2009-09-11 01:19 pm (UTC)herhis own good, the little snotling! Former snotling. Gah.Yeah, Rush would have such a cackle at his friend's expense. XD And give him lectures on how he has no clue how to woo a mature woman (as if Rush has any better clue, hah!) and generally be a cheerful pain. But I doubt he'd dare try to tease Emma... >)
I wonder what might trigger any progress for this. Possibly a really tense battle, Dave and Emma back to back, with the classic shove control out the window and work off steam after?

Date: 2009-09-11 01:31 pm (UTC)Cheerful pain indeed! He'd suggest godawful ideas such as holding parties and dancing with girls to get Emma jealous, etc. Then Dave tells Rush to please stop reading bodice rippers.
And OMG, how will Emmy react?!
That's really rather classic. XD Probably need something weirder, more out of the ordinary. Maybe something happens that's probably Emma's fault but David unconditionally defends her for the sake of her honour, or something like that. I don't know. Once I do, THERE WILL BE FIC.

Date: 2009-09-11 01:49 pm (UTC)Hmmmm. But Dave saving Emma's honour like that, when it really is her fault, would put Emma in a very vulnerable position vis a vis Dave. He'd be walking a very fine line indeed to avoid exploiting her gratitude. On the other hand, that would put him firmly on top. Maybe if he defends her with considerable risk to himself; then it would be clear to all (at least the two of them) that the loyalty can and will run both ways?

Date: 2009-09-11 02:03 pm (UTC)Rush: Yanno, one day you might have you call Dave stepdad. XD
Emmy: ............................. DDDDDDD:
Oh, that's assuming Dave hasn't given up on his wooing at that point. But if he has given up - because he becomes convinced Emma isn't interested and if he keeps going he'd cause her far too much distress and he doesn't want to do that - and then Emma comes to him after the whole thing, and Dave goes, "it's okay, I don't need your gratitude" and then however she tries to convince him he doesn't believe that it's not just gratitude, then they dance around the whole thing ALL OVER AGAIN~~~~~ wheee! And then some other guy comes along and asks Emma out and David buries himself in work and Doesn't Want To Know. And Emma finds herself dreaming about David. *shot* In any case he could have defended her with risk to himself, physically or politically.

Date: 2009-09-11 02:11 pm (UTC)Correction: David TRIES to bury himself in work and shut Reality out. Unfortunately for him, Rush teams up with Reality and votes David
off the islandout of his office! 8DHow many dates would it take Emma to decide soddit, this guy isn't worth it, and get back just being a general, you think?
no subject
Date: 2009-09-11 02:22 pm (UTC)Two dates, I reckon. Pagus, who doesn't know the whole thing, advises her to give the guy a second chance after the first date, just to see how it goes. There's probably nothing wrong with the guy, too, Emma just doesn't feel interested in him.
And then, Pez whips out her magic keyboard and kills Dave, so that they don't end up together? And Emma Regrets?

Date: 2009-09-11 02:44 pm (UTC)Someone's got to kick Dave in the teeth about Running Away(tm). He won't like that. Not one bit. There might be loss of temper.

Date: 2009-09-11 02:49 pm (UTC)I think what'd convince him that it might work would be when Emma stops calling him LORD David in private. But Emma needs to realise this. >>

Date: 2009-09-11 02:55 pm (UTC)But yes, that there might be a very good Sign. But is it possible to distress Emma enough to let go of the "Lord"? And would it take severe distress? Or anger? Or sympathy? Hmm.

Date: 2009-09-11 03:45 pm (UTC)Not sure. Maybe if she does have feelings for him then she'd think of him in her head without the Lordness, but whether she says that out loud or not, that's a completely different issue. The Honeywells has served Athlum for generations, it's pretty much ingrained into her, so it won't be easy. Perhaps he actually has to ask her to do this, and if she's willing to drop the Lord, then he'd be happy. XD

Date: 2009-09-11 04:07 pm (UTC)Bertie WoosterDave: Emma, I'm sure that nothing is further from your mind, but you know you have a way of saying "Yes, my Lord" which gives the impression that it's only a feudal sense of what is fitting which prevents you from substituting the words "Says you."JeevesEmma: I'm distressed to hear it, my Lord.Dave: Well, so you should be, Emma. Correct it.
Emma: Very good, my Lord.
;;;;;;;
I DON'T KNOW HOW I ENDED UP HERE BUT JKDHGLJSDHG OW.

Date: 2009-09-11 02:46 pm (UTC)Perhaps someone would be less irritated by the heat if they didn't wear so many layers of clothing. Dave can no doubt advise on this topic.

Date: 2009-09-11 02:55 pm (UTC)Dave is very concerned for Rush's health. Imagine getting heat stroke. He will personally make sure that Rush's clothing is sorted out.
