So.

Hands up anyone who really wants David/Emma.

*puts hand up*

(Emma/David would of course also be good, but I mean David/Emma, and not just because he's her boss. I can see him on top in this. Emma might try to dodge him for a long time to start with, though. >D)

With lots of emotional struggles between them!

SO HOT.

Gosh, yes. In between the snazzy young men, Dave has a kink for older women, huh. :P And she'd be working hard to find a way to say no that isn't insubordination, at the same time as she's looking for a way to say yes that isn't getting too close. *_*

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Kink for older women, and also the fact that Emma is very hot anyway. And he doesn't want to push her so much that it looks like he's abusing his authority and forcing her into submission, anything like that. He wants her to want him!

And when Emma keeps dodging, David have a grumble with Rush about the whole thing and Rush at first is Really Shocked but then later he gets used to the idea and just laughs at Dave. Because that's what best mates are for!

I can just imagine Emma muttering unkind thoughts re. Dave growing into such killer good looks and far too much charisma for her his own good, the little snotling! Former snotling. Gah.

Yeah, Rush would have such a cackle at his friend's expense. XD And give him lectures on how he has no clue how to woo a mature woman (as if Rush has any better clue, hah!) and generally be a cheerful pain. But I doubt he'd dare try to tease Emma... >)

I wonder what might trigger any progress for this. Possibly a really tense battle, Dave and Emma back to back, with the classic shove control out the window and work off steam after?

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed! And the older he gets, the hotter he gets, too! David might not be anywhere near her age but he's definitely very mature in his head anyway.

Cheerful pain indeed! He'd suggest godawful ideas such as holding parties and dancing with girls to get Emma jealous, etc. Then Dave tells Rush to please stop reading bodice rippers.

And OMG, how will Emmy react?!

That's really rather classic. XD Probably need something weirder, more out of the ordinary. Maybe something happens that's probably Emma's fault but David unconditionally defends her for the sake of her honour, or something like that. I don't know. Once I do, THERE WILL BE FIC.

Dave is a dangerous young man, oh yes. Emmy.... It's easy to imagine her getting jealous and/or disgusted and weirded out. On the other hand, she might get over herself and join Rush on the peanut gallery. Possibly with help from the same Rush.

Hmmmm. But Dave saving Emma's honour like that, when it really is her fault, would put Emma in a very vulnerable position vis a vis Dave. He'd be walking a very fine line indeed to avoid exploiting her gratitude. On the other hand, that would put him firmly on top. Maybe if he defends her with considerable risk to himself; then it would be clear to all (at least the two of them) that the loyalty can and will run both ways?

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Emmy might be able to give Dave more help than Rush, being a woman and being the daughter. I suppose once she realises Dave isn't playing around and his feelings are for realz...

Rush: Yanno, one day you might have you call Dave stepdad. XD
Emmy: ............................. DDDDDDD:

Oh, that's assuming Dave hasn't given up on his wooing at that point. But if he has given up - because he becomes convinced Emma isn't interested and if he keeps going he'd cause her far too much distress and he doesn't want to do that - and then Emma comes to him after the whole thing, and Dave goes, "it's okay, I don't need your gratitude" and then however she tries to convince him he doesn't believe that it's not just gratitude, then they dance around the whole thing ALL OVER AGAIN~~~~~ wheee! And then some other guy comes along and asks Emma out and David buries himself in work and Doesn't Want To Know. And Emma finds herself dreaming about David. *shot* In any case he could have defended her with risk to himself, physically or politically.

XDDDDDDDDDDDD

Correction: David TRIES to bury himself in work and shut Reality out. Unfortunately for him, Rush teams up with Reality and votes David off the island out of his office! 8D

How many dates would it take Emma to decide soddit, this guy isn't worth it, and get back just being a general, you think?

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn Rush and his pompoms. XD I'm not sure, but I get the feeling David might go into great lengths to get himself away, such as going on diplomatic visits and such, and only taking Torgal with him but no one else. And he tells Rush he doesn't have to have her to love her. (Awwwwww.)

Two dates, I reckon. Pagus, who doesn't know the whole thing, advises her to give the guy a second chance after the first date, just to see how it goes. There's probably nothing wrong with the guy, too, Emma just doesn't feel interested in him.

And then, Pez whips out her magic keyboard and kills Dave, so that they don't end up together? And Emma Regrets?

I think you should kill Regular Joe instead. Right in front of Emma. She'd be very sorry, then, for thinking unkindly of him. She might need comforting.

Someone's got to kick Dave in the teeth about Running Away(tm). He won't like that. Not one bit. There might be loss of temper.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Dave doesn't lose him temper, though? And he'll explain (with a lot of patience, annoyingly enough) that it's not about running away but giving Emma the space.

I think what'd convince him that it might work would be when Emma stops calling him LORD David in private. But Emma needs to realise this. >>

[identity profile] solaas.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Pfah! You've made him lose his temper before, you know what it takes. 8)

But yes, that there might be a very good Sign. But is it possible to distress Emma enough to let go of the "Lord"? And would it take severe distress? Or anger? Or sympathy? Hmm.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
It took killing off his entire family, yeah. >>

Not sure. Maybe if she does have feelings for him then she'd think of him in her head without the Lordness, but whether she says that out loud or not, that's a completely different issue. The Honeywells has served Athlum for generations, it's pretty much ingrained into her, so it won't be easy. Perhaps he actually has to ask her to do this, and if she's willing to drop the Lord, then he'd be happy. XD

[identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
For some reason I now imagine...

Bertie Wooster Dave: Emma, I'm sure that nothing is further from your mind, but you know you have a way of saying "Yes, my Lord" which gives the impression that it's only a feudal sense of what is fitting which prevents you from substituting the words "Says you."
Jeeves Emma: I'm distressed to hear it, my Lord.
Dave: Well, so you should be, Emma. Correct it.
Emma: Very good, my Lord.

;;;;;;;

I DON'T KNOW HOW I ENDED UP HERE BUT JKDHGLJSDHG OW.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I am partial to Emma wearing Jeeves's outfit.

I am also partial to Dave wearing that waiter jacket.

[identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, I am certainly forced to agree with your first point.

Poor Dave. >)

Yes, yes it is.

(Also my desktop backdrop on this laptop is the one with the Dave from your icon, and that is pretty distracting too. It's going to be an interesting flight.)

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, I had that problem before when I used the same wallpaper. The way his fingertips touch his lips, so very distracting...

[personal profile] storme 2009-09-11 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
I think it's more that *he* looks so very distracted. Which begs the question of what is going on off-screen, really.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it could be anything, really. He could simply be thinking about how to dominate Rush the world, for example.

Or, off-screen, Someone is complaining about how hot summer is in Athlum...

Dave would be the very prettiest of megalomaniacs.

Perhaps someone would be less irritated by the heat if they didn't wear so many layers of clothing. Dave can no doubt advise on this topic.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2009-09-11 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
He does wear very many layers. I bet he just pulls it all over his head in one movement when he gets ready for bed. I mean, those laces!

Dave is very concerned for Rush's health. Imagine getting heat stroke. He will personally make sure that Rush's clothing is sorted out.
storme: (Rush sly)

[personal profile] storme 2009-09-12 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
But then how does he put it back on again? Surely he doesn't just pull it all back on at once?

I am glad Dave is keeping an eye on Rush's clothing situation. It's good to know Rush is in such good hands.
