I have just been woken up from my sleep by a call to my mobile. A woman, who initially would not say who she was looking for (because my phone /must/ belong to someone called Rick), insisted that she had not got the wrong number and said "I don't think so nigger. I think you're a black fucker-"

At which point I hung up and switched my phone off.

The number was withheld, but it didn't sound like an overseas call. IT'S 5:30AM GODDAMMIT.

There is nothing quite as annoying as wrong numbers. My standard response if someone calls and demands to know who I am is "if you don't know who I am, then you called the wrong number" and hanging up.

The thing is, I've had calls before where people just didn't want to say who they were, initially, and when I asked "who are you looking for?", they said "you!" ......and the call turned out to be from my friends whose voice I just couldn't recognise. tbh I hate guessing games, I'd have hung up if it wasn't for that experience and the fact that it's early morning and my auaomatic reaction was that anyone calling at this hour of the day can't be prank-calling. -_-"

And I had to climb off my bunk bed to get to the phone, too.

I HATE PHONECALLS THEY MAKE ME NERVOUS. (I think I've said that before?)

Unrelated to the subject of phone calls, but every time you do that *eyes last line of your comment* I think of Nanny Ogg, who knew how to start spelling Banana, but did not know how to stop. ...this will presumably make Very Little Sense as I don't think you know Discworld, but hey. It's early by everyone else's standards but I have been awake for hours and am bored. *shot*

(Nanny Ogg: a filthy-minded old lady who likes to get drunk and sing really inappropriate songs. Often about hedgehogs. My mother has expressed the worrying desire to become Nanny Ogg when she is an old lady. >_> )

She doesn't get drunk anyway. Nanny holds her liquor like no one else can. But her mind is really, REALLY filthy. As proved by the (rather tame, all things considered) Hedgehog Song, version 1 and 2 (there are a gazillion others, of course... Pterry never gives the full thing, so it's up to the fan to fill in the blanks). I think you might have been with us at Tine's when I found these, but am not sure.
