Date: 2006-02-07 03:49 pm (UTC)Kabaji's mother is one of Atobe's father's many mistresses. Technically speaking, Kabaji Munehiro and Atobe Keigo are half brothers.
Keigo's father wanted nothing to do with Kabaji's mother when he found out the child was had slight mental disabilities. The mother married a man who loved her and her child, some years later, but when Keigo found out about this, he took Kabaji under his wing anyway.
It may seem that Keigo is taking advantage of Kabaji a lot of the time, but he only does this because he knows Kabaji likes being told what to do.
Besides, he has always wanted a brother to play with and to order around.

That way he could play with a crystal ball, predict people's future (it didn't occur to him that the ability was required for the job, the job would not give him that ability), tell them whether they would be lucky or not, and earn a lot of money.
Or he could have just wanted to wear those silk face scarves and paint his nails black.

Date: 2006-02-07 05:08 pm (UTC)Ever since that fateful match, Atobe and Tezuka hanged out a lot. Most of the time it was Tezuka who called and Atobe went. He didn't really know why, nor did he worry about it. It wasn't as if he was obliged to go, he just felt like going.
Atobe didn't realise that was exactly what he was supposed to worry about, until he found himself being pressed down on the grass by Tezuka, during a fishing trip (Atobe wasn't thinking when he said yes he would go), and liked that, as well.

It took a few days, but finally he had Atobe cornered, with no Oshitari or Kabaji hanging over the boy's shoulder. Atobe had never looked so annoyed. But he answered the question even before Shishido asked it.
"Because you look better with long hair." He said, turning away, "now get your ass back to practice."
Atobe walked away, leaving Shishido standing there. It was a week before they could look at each other in the eye again without blushing.

There were times when Yukimura wanted to die: when he could not lift a finger, when he had machines to help him breathe, when he felt he would spend his whole life in an unmoving shell, not even able to take his own life, he wanted to die more than ever.
And then his family came. Sanada came. Renji came. Everyone visited tirelessly, gave him fresh flowers, talked to him even though he could only respond by blinking. The sound of footsteps walking into the room became his floating plank of hope, which he held on to with every bit of strength.
As if by miracle, things started to get better. Eventually he was back in school, and Yukimura had never felt so lucky or been so glad to be alive.
Until he saw Sanada and Renji kiss, after hours, in the clubroom.
Stopped dead in his tracks, Yukimura suddenly wished he had died on that white bed, in that white room. He couldn't say why, but it was as if the world had excluded him, shoved him away.
But then the pair walked up to him and put their arms around him and kissed him and shyly said they wanted him to be there. And Yukimura knew he truly was the luckiest man alive.
