I'm really worried. My sister is okay, but I've emailed all my friends in London and only one of them replied. I've got loads of friends working in the City and other financial areas like Canary Wharf. Maybe I'll wait a while before calling them.

It's a nasty,scary situation to be caught in, but I guess the best thing right now is to just wait and not try and call/mail anybody, because that'd be just adding to the general chaos of all communication systems.

You might try sending text messages? I seem to recall that those are recommended over phone calls when the lines are very busy - they travel more easily and might get through better than calls, because they can be queued and use less bandwidth (or something).
