I'm really worried. My sister is okay, but I've emailed all my friends in London and only one of them replied. I've got loads of friends working in the City and other financial areas like Canary Wharf. Maybe I'll wait a while before calling them.

Thank you so much. I just got one more safe reply and am hoping to get more soon. I suppose everybody either are stuck on the way to work or have gone home so aren't checking their work email...

The news comm says there are email delays on English servers of ~10 minutes, this is expected to rise to 20 minutes. This is due not to bombs but to traffic.

Same for the phone and mobile networks, they are not shut down but extremely busy, so I guess calling people will be a hassle.

i think the phone lines and cellular networks may experience overload and not work properly.. thats usually the case here (we're terror attacks veterans, unfortunately -__-;)

It's a nasty,scary situation to be caught in, but I guess the best thing right now is to just wait and not try and call/mail anybody, because that'd be just adding to the general chaos of all communication systems.

You might try sending text messages? I seem to recall that those are recommended over phone calls when the lines are very busy - they travel more easily and might get through better than calls, because they can be queued and use less bandwidth (or something).
