Call for help from my sister: Why can't she view her video files? She has installed the same codec packs as me, but she just can't see videos in Windows Media Player, Real One *or* DivX Player. Sometimes she gets the sounds, but no picture.

Please help!

This might work.

Have her uninstall what codecs she can via Add/Remove programs under the Control Panel.

Then have her install Nimo's Codec Pack. That should hopefully solve her problems.

Nimo codec pack can cause problems.

AnimeSuki usually recommends:

Either WMP 9 or WMP 6.4 [that's the classic Windows Media Player]

AND

FFDSHOW (codecs):

for most video files on the net...

first, uninstall all the codecs on the comp
then go to www.doom9.org
install ffdshow, divx3.11a and the other divx

and also the AC3 codec

with WMP9 this should get you through 99% of the avi files on the modern internet.

I once have the same problem, esp when ppl record the video with their d cams. Has she tried to open those files with QuickTime?
