Did I just do that?
Oct. 5th, 2009 12:42 amOh, I appear to have signed up to a writing thing. Not due for five months, though. Gives me plenty of time to write, rewrite and rerewrite.
[deleted paragraph] Since the comments are pretty interesting I'm going to unlock this entry and I don't want what was here to be public. XD
[edit] Massive huge spoilers for TLR in the comments, don't read if you don't want to be spoiled. (I guess that's just
vanillafire on my friends list right now. XD)

Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 10:19 am (UTC)Or, generally David realises the world situation isn't very stable. For example, Hermeien being Duke of Nagapur plus Congress Chairman plus running the Academy. The Valeria Heart has to stay where it is to stop earthquakes, and although the Gae Bolg is powerful, David can't be at many places at the same time, so it'd be better to have more Remnants? Emma's father wanted to find a great Athlumian Remnants, too...
That said, sometimes I want to ignore that whole conversation and imagine that one of the Generals talked David into paying more attention to the talisman because it can shield against the Gae Bolg. So either it can protect David if the Gae Bolg tries to drain him of all his lifeforce, or it can be dangerous if it falls onto the hands of someone anti-Athlum... XD
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 10:25 am (UTC)Maybe Dave (like any Lord would be, I suspect) is just feeling grabby about any Remnants that he might possibly be able to get hold of? More is more, and all that--and the talisman is unbound at that point, so he stands a chance of being able to use it.
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 10:28 am (UTC)*nod* Also the fact that they'd never seen a talisman before? It was made from a Remnant using the tablet, so it's something that's "hey, it exhibits a Remnant's power but it's so... little?"
And Dave just can't resist the shiny.
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 10:36 am (UTC)As is that, actually--I guess they'd never seen a talisman before. No wonder they're curious. Though at that point they've only seen it do its shielding thing--do you think they'd know it had other powers?
Dave is at least as intrigued by the pretty that comes with the shiny, I think. :P
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 10:43 am (UTC)Oh wait, remember what Torgal said then? He wanted to know if the talisman could be used "outside of battles"! I guess it's the gamemakers' way to introduce the timeshift ability, but still... what if Athlum is after a Remnant that's not for fighting? Maybe they're wondering if the protection power they saw at Yaman Plain can be used to cover the whole of Athlum? Or am I stretching this too far?
Heh. That goes without saying!
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 10:49 am (UTC)Poor Rush. If he weren't so oblivious, he'd probably get upset at the idea that Dave was only after him for his talisman.
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 11:00 am (UTC)What a darling. ♥ Makes me want to pat him on the head. Dave most likely wants to pat him in other places. XD
Re: TLR discussion
Date: 2009-10-06 11:08 am (UTC)Dave gets very protective quite fast, I noticed in this playthrough. :P It's very sweet.
