Jun. 12th, 2004 05:54 pmOkay... If you see anyone's post that looks like this:
Subject: interesting...
Body: this is very interesting
Don't click on the link. It'll just add exactly the same post to your LJ. As we know LJ's security is rather non-existant, who knows how people managed to do that. Might be another password-mining technique for all I care. Looking at the link which hosted this weird auto-posting thing makes me even more worried - this person has put "assorted hacks" he has done under the "project" section of his webpage.
If you've already clicked on the link, I suggest you go and change your password now, just in case.

Date: 2004-06-12 05:01 pm (UTC)So I've been following the discussion in one's LJ and here's a summary:
1- This is similar to a Russian meme that was going around yesterday;
2- It does not (thank god) catch our passwords. The script uses the cookies of the session to post the same entry in YOUR LJ once you click on it;
3- One thing you might want to do is BIND your LJ to your IP (if you only use your LJ at home, let's say) but it's not totally helpful...
If you are interested...here's where I got caught and the discussions that arose, with interesting info/tips/links:

Date: 2004-06-12 05:05 pm (UTC)GAH! It's self-perpetuating ^_~
What pisses me off is that NOW, before clicking on links, I'll probably start by going INTO a post and see if there are comments about the links being legit or not!
Gahh!
