More comments than ever for the Rikkai doujinshi post yesterday because I asked for it. I had to ask for it! 1 in 3 viewings resulted in a comment. XD; [livejournal.com profile] sharpie~ I have an idea! Every month, throw people off [livejournal.com profile] devil_mode if they haven't commented even once during that period. And ban them from joining again. It'll give me lots of satisfaction. \XD/ (see discussion in comments!)

A quick word count revealed that I've written 64k words so far this year. In the beginning of 2008 I was aiming to reach 100k this year, like I did in 2007, but it looks like I won't reach the target. Though, I'm not too disappointed with the word count because I wrote quite a few stories I like. :3

[livejournal.com profile] eolo pointed out that yesterday's "writer's block" was:

Hemingway was once challenged to write a story in only six words. His response? “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” He is believed to have called it his greatest literary work ever. Can you write a story in six words?

All I can think of is, in Niou-hedgehog's style: They had a lot of sex.

Comment with your six-word story!

Very often I don't have the time or energy to read doujinshi. I tend to binge now and then. I don't want to be thrown out because I'm busy. :(

But only once a month! It can't be that hard.

It's a case of trying to make sure everyone understands things take effort and stuff, right in the beginning. If not, people will start slipping and slacking off more and more, forget that there really is a person holding a book to the scanner and spending her time to make it happen, like what I said to [livejournal.com profile] chez_maltesers below. Because of what has happened to other people, my conclusion is that although some people cannot comment or don't have the time to, the majority who don't actually just can't be bothered or forget that things don't happen by magic.

But I do take your point. I'm trying to devise a different way to go about this, perhaps a poll at the end of each post, with 3 options: I liked this; I didn't like this; I'll read this later. People seem to love voting and it's easier to gauge opinion etc that way.

(I can haz typing skillz)

I don't approve of the attitude and behaviour of a lot of leechers any more than you do. Trying to force people to comment doesn't seem to work that well, but I think polls sounds like a good idea. No one can resist ticky. If you have more than 3 options (Pez is God etc) then it would be even better.

Those are the sorts of comments I actually wouldn't mind, because it does show whomever said it had some sort of interest in reading it, if not right away. Even "Urgh this book is horrible" comments are fine with me. Not to say "EVERYONE MUST COMMENT ON EVERY SINGLE POST" or anything, but it's nice to know the work is appreciated by at least some people, regardless of whether they happened to like that particular doujinshi or not.

Exactly. It's not our drawing/story they're commenting on, anyway! I wouldn't take offense if somebody didn't like the art.

Yep yep. And those sort of comments give me a good idea of things people would like to see more of in the future, as well (like when I'm sitting here going "I want to scan things but idk what to scan D:")
