Jun. 27th, 2007 09:50 amMy red Roger Federer t-shirt arrived just now! \(^0^)/ I was going to link to it again, but it seems like it really was limited edition - they aren't selling anymore on the site.
And Kane-chan approves of it! d(^_^)b Or maybe he doesn't care, but I just want to use this icon. So for the sake of this post, he approves!
Actually, I think he looks more like this in the icon: d(:D)b
XD;;;;; Oh, the silly man.
This post is for spamming! Come on, where is the spam gone? What does a Pez have to do to receive spam? Should she balance a pepper shaker on her (not bleeding!) nose?
[edit] I GOT FLIGHT TICKETS! GONNA GO SELL MORE JUNK NOW. MWAHAHAHAHA.

Date: 2007-06-27 09:14 am (UTC)Sadness! Poor overlooked Yamato.
Maybe it's because he's like the secret megane operative - people don't always suspect him because, well, sunglasses... anyone can wear those, right? So he doesn't appear in pictures with the other megane because that would draw attention to him as though everything else about him isn't already drawing attention. But then I guess the sort of attention he normally draws is more 'man, look at that guy, is he on drugs?' than 'man, look at that megane', so...I've been reading the Bleach manga today and Urahara now = Yamato in my mind. HELP.

Date: 2007-06-27 09:36 am (UTC)Yamato DDDDD: at you and says he is not on drugs why do you say he's on drugs he's just a
hippiehappy happy guy that's all and YOU SHOULD WRITE FICS ABOUT HIM.no subject
Date: 2007-06-27 09:41 am (UTC)I can't write fic. I fail. *cries* D:

Date: 2007-06-27 10:24 am (UTC)YOU DO. SO GO WRITE SOME. XD
btw, what's your opinion on fic research? Say if you're writing a fic with a special background - erm, the army, for example. They have their own special code words and organisational structure and they may make casual reference that seem obvious to them but "HUH?" to the reader. I'm writing a fic where I try to keep the "HUH?" to a minimum (the best sort of research should be "invisible", I believe) but sometimes it seems natural for them to say certain things that aren't obvious, which may require some sort of explanation note in the beginning. Although I don't like explanation notes much. What do you think? For your average short story (2k - 10k words), are 5 or 6 of such notes okay, if I keep them short and precise? Or should I just avoid having to use those notes altogether?

Date: 2007-06-27 10:45 am (UTC)Can you put it in such a way that the reader would be able to make sense of the statement in context, without having it spelt out? That would be the ideal situation, I think. Otherwise, a few small endnotes or something won't kill people, though as a reader I'd rather they be kept to an absolute minimum. In general though, if I can see a good reason for something to be there then it's good. You should be wary of throwing in far too much irrelevant detail just to show that you know things. Not that I think you'd do that at all, really, but sometimes you see people writing historical fic or whatever and it's just like they've tried to shove their entire knowledge of whatever place/period it is into a story for no damn good reason rather than picking and choosing to get what's most relevant.
...spot the pet peeve. :D But a few bits and pieces here and there should be fine, I think. :)

Date: 2007-06-27 11:05 am (UTC)That's what I'm thinking. I'm trying really hard to make it all "invisible" and more "show rather than tell" but there are incidences where it just doesn't seem to work. Am thinking about taking out those little bits altogether since it's not essential. Gah, I dunno. Should I just show you the fic? XD;
