Dilemma

I have a dilemma.

Kat, who has so kindly offered to put me up in Japan (♥!!!) will have to work on Saturday so won't be able to meet me until the evening/night. That means I'll run around by myself in Chiba city for a while (KRK movie? XD A good & bishie-ful way to kill time! It's the first day of showing but I might still be able to get a ticket~) My plane lands at 10am, so with customs & travel, I'll prolly get there at around 1-2pm?

I'm trying to decide which suitcase to bring with me.

Large one
Pros: It has wheels, can stand up and be pushed or pulled along. Sturdy.
Cons: I'm unlikely to find luggage storage that can hold it during my first day there, so I'll have to push it around with me O_O The suitcase itself is heavy already and I only have 20kg luggage allowance. >_>

Small one (ie the one I took to SqueeFest/Hana/Tine's place)
Pros: Much lighter. Has wheels, can be pulled around. I can bring one of those very strong, large bags (called red-white-blue in Cantonese XD they're made with a sort of plasticy canvas?) and just use it when I accumulate shopping later on in the trip. It's much more likely I can find a locker that can store the case while I run around on the first day. Together with the bag, this gives overall more storage room than just one suitcase.
Cons: Large bag won't have wheels. I'll have problems with it when I leave Japan =/ Also, two pieces of medium-sized luggage is not easy to handle by myself.

Either way, I'll be taking Heathrow Express and then taxi on the way back, because I've hurt my back before and will not risk hurting it again. It's the trip between Kat's place and Narita Airport that I'm worried about.

I don't have much to take on the way there but I predict I'll have a lot on the way back.

What would you do, if you were me?

(Squee!!!! Glay/Himuro concert on Sunday! I can't wait \(^0^)/)

Hmm.. when I went there I took a large luggage and fortunately I was allowed to deposited it in the Ryokan before checking in at 3.00 pm. We arrive at Tokyo at 7.30am and its raining.. the hussle of pulling the luggage from Narita to Asakusa is >_<. I dont know, if you had to pull ur luggage by yourself it is better u bring the small ones. You can always purchase a big souvenir paperbag at 100-en shop if you want to bring back things. That what my sister did.

I think I would option for the small case and the bag. You could put heavy stuff in the suitcase and clothes in the bag. Maybe the bag can be put on the smaller suitcase for transport if you have something to secure it with?

I did the small case and bag option the last time, but I travelled from Tokyo to Kyoto and back as well.

The small one is good, it will keep you from buying too much stuff. XD

And I know exactly what you mean by red-white-blue, I've seen it *so* many times! :))

Whee!

red-white-blues are love! They've been around for so so soooo many years and are so out of fashion that they're in fashion again XD The ones they sell here are usually red white green though, for some reason. XD You can even get cartoon ones these days XDDDD

I think you'll be okay! I had...2 suitcases and 1 bag by the time I came back from China... and I'm tiny XD; lol If you're just lugging around 1 small suitcase and have an empty/almost empty bag while you're running around Chiba by yourself in the time between, I think it's doable, especially if you find storage!

I don't think you should worry about getting back to Narita because 2 medium sized luggage shouldn't be that bad when you put the bag on your suitcase. :D I don't know about your back, but it should be alright if you just put the bag on the suitcase when you're on the train or whatever. :3
