Friending, fandom and family
Jan. 7th, 2006 11:17 am1.
Some people like to see shit flung around for reasons I don't understand. If it's locked to a close circle (which admittedly defeats the purpose) who are trusted and who you know have a sense of humour, then yeah. But when it's open for the world to see, isn't it sort of like saying "hey I want to see fandom wars! Start yours here!"...?
O_o........? I dungeddit, but obviously it's just me, and people will do what people will do. I sit back on my heels and watch the fireworks.

I want new friends on LJ.
I've added back a few people who were defriended back in the April/May (?) defriending spree and never got friended back afterwards *. There are more people in my "friend of" than "friends". I don't add people back because, well, I don't know why they added me in the first place! I don't know who half of them are, they never comment, so I don't add them back.
Mind you, I'm not hoping to become one of those people who have a couple of hundred or even a thousand people friended. Because I do try to read all my friends' entries and there's no way I can cope with that many people - this is not to say those who do that neglect their friends, I just have no idea how they do it. I just want to make some new friends that's all.
* Some people actually defriended me at that point, and so of course we never added each other back. I think they never cared enough to read the reason of the defriending, which I posted a little while before the actual act, and so didn't realise it was a mass-defriending solely because of my personal problems, instead of "I don't like you anymore". Or they just liked to have the same number of "friends" and "friend of" on their userinfo page. This leads me to think it's really no great loss on my part that they're gone.

I love Tezuka. Those who don't love him are missing out on so much. Even if you think he is just toast, there is so much fun in toast!mockery.

This is the 4th year I am living with my sister and the nth time I ask myself how I can put up with this.

Date: 2006-01-07 11:30 am (UTC)*grins* A lot of people connected to me are people who have abandoned LJ pretty much. The number looks huge, but it's actually pretty manageable. I do spend a ton of time reading LJ every day, which is why I consider it my one real fandom. Of course, I'm not a writer, so it's easier for me. ^_^
Maybe you could look at the people who have Tezuka listed as an interest and see if any of them are people you'd like to be friends with.
I should really get at least one Tezuka icon...

Date: 2006-01-07 12:09 pm (UTC)It's a weird thing. I friend back so that they can read fic drafts, because that's all most of them want. No worries... but even then I'd say much less than half my flist posts regularly. Many of the journals are empty, I guess they just use them to read stuff. *shrugs*
(And I confess I can't read them all every day, and that makes me feel guilty sometimes.)
Hope you find some cool new friends. ^_^ *hugs*

Date: 2006-01-07 12:42 pm (UTC)Anyhu, what I said was:
If you want more LJ friends, go make them. You're easy to get along with and fandoms are great starting grounds. A lot of LJs aren't used even though they were created way back when. With my recent prolonged absence I can understand how having many friends might be more manageable than most think.
Has your sister cleared up why it is she acts this way towards you?

Date: 2006-01-07 01:06 pm (UTC)I'm trying to chat more with people in word_games...
Don't know, some people can't seem to tolerate me! ^^"

Date: 2006-01-07 01:10 pm (UTC)Yeah - I noticed you chat. I think that's a good way to get to make new friends. I'd do it too if I could manage to write. That way at least, you get people who share a common interest.
Pfft, don't be silly.
