Friending, fandom and family

1.

Some people like to see shit flung around for reasons I don't understand. If it's locked to a close circle (which admittedly defeats the purpose) who are trusted and who you know have a sense of humour, then yeah. But when it's open for the world to see, isn't it sort of like saying "hey I want to see fandom wars! Start yours here!"...?

O_o........? I dungeddit, but obviously it's just me, and people will do what people will do. I sit back on my heels and watch the fireworks.

2.

I want new friends on LJ.

I've added back a few people who were defriended back in the April/May (?) defriending spree and never got friended back afterwards *. There are more people in my "friend of" than "friends". I don't add people back because, well, I don't know why they added me in the first place! I don't know who half of them are, they never comment, so I don't add them back.

Mind you, I'm not hoping to become one of those people who have a couple of hundred or even a thousand people friended. Because I do try to read all my friends' entries and there's no way I can cope with that many people - this is not to say those who do that neglect their friends, I just have no idea how they do it. I just want to make some new friends that's all.

* Some people actually defriended me at that point, and so of course we never added each other back. I think they never cared enough to read the reason of the defriending, which I posted a little while before the actual act, and so didn't realise it was a mass-defriending solely because of my personal problems, instead of "I don't like you anymore". Or they just liked to have the same number of "friends" and "friend of" on their userinfo page. This leads me to think it's really no great loss on my part that they're gone.

3.

I love Tezuka. Those who don't love him are missing out on so much. Even if you think he is just toast, there is so much fun in toast!mockery.

4.

This is the 4th year I am living with my sister and the nth time I ask myself how I can put up with this.

I just have no idea how they do it.

*grins* A lot of people connected to me are people who have abandoned LJ pretty much. The number looks huge, but it's actually pretty manageable. I do spend a ton of time reading LJ every day, which is why I consider it my one real fandom. Of course, I'm not a writer, so it's easier for me. ^_^

Maybe you could look at the people who have Tezuka listed as an interest and see if any of them are people you'd like to be friends with.

I should really get at least one Tezuka icon...

You should!

It's a weird thing. I friend back so that they can read fic drafts, because that's all most of them want. No worries... but even then I'd say much less than half my flist posts regularly. Many of the journals are empty, I guess they just use them to read stuff. *shrugs*

(And I confess I can't read them all every day, and that makes me feel guilty sometimes.)

Hope you find some cool new friends. ^_^ *hugs*

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't post fics here, maybe that's one of the reasons... and same here, some of the people who have me friended but never comment, they aren't even active on LJ anymore... or they just read and never use the journal itself?

Thanks!

[identity profile] vicky-guu-sama.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 12:23 pm (UTC)(link)
well u know, friends you can choose, (now you can even defriend them!), but family is something you are stuck with for the rest of your life, well to put it the simple way anyway. have u chatted to your sis (either one) about it?

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I spoke to Sai this morning coz she was out for school (which I haven't been told, obviously). It seems like it's the same old problem (ie she wants something done and it has to be done right away, if you don't do it she gets angry but doesn't tell you, and then bottle it up for a month and then burst at you... expects people to be able to read her mind... doesn't accept that I live at a different pace from hers...) he said he'll get her to talk to me. Me, I just think we're too old for this, "I don't want to talk to you and I won't look at you when I talk to you" is something you do in primary school. So I'll sit and wait for her to come around, I have no patience to approach her myself.

[identity profile] vicky-guu-sama.livejournal.com 2006-01-08 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
well i guess someone will have to approach the other, and it seems that in general Sai is a good person to talk to?

I am back early ish Feb.

[identity profile] lina-lau.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
*patpat* I friend back cos my journal is friends only. But I'm picky and paranoid, so if people don't comment in my post, I don't friend them back, cos obviously they haven't read my policy or my userinfo, and are just adding for the sake of looking like they have more friends. >.> But I can't manage the 90 or so people on my own flist anyway - I read my flist on heavy filter, so. ^^; I feel bad sometimes, but it is stated in my user info that I do that, so people are adding me knowing that I might not read their journals. ._.;

And your sis didn't seem that bad every time I've been to your house. D:

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
My sis... see the above comment.

[identity profile] lina-lau.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
._. I'm not very good with things like this, since I'm an only child myself and I've never really had anyone like a sister, so. ^^; But yeah... I think talking is the best way to get round it. :/ Even if it is a bit annoying or you think you're too old for this, it has to be done else it'll just get worse. ~_~

I would totally offer to like, share a flat with you or something, if I end up going to uni in London. xD;

[identity profile] arithion.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Gah! I posted in the wrong spot *sighs*

Anyhu, what I said was:

If you want more LJ friends, go make them. You're easy to get along with and fandoms are great starting grounds. A lot of LJs aren't used even though they were created way back when. With my recent prolonged absence I can understand how having many friends might be more manageable than most think.

Has your sister cleared up why it is she acts this way towards you?

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
My sis... see my comment above to Vicky.

I'm trying to chat more with people in word_games...

Don't know, some people can't seem to tolerate me! ^^"

[identity profile] arithion.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
*hugs on the sis thing* I can appreciate the no patience thing totally...

Yeah - I noticed you chat. I think that's a good way to get to make new friends. I'd do it too if I could manage to write. That way at least, you get people who share a common interest.

Pfft, don't be silly.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
We could post a challenge on [livejournal.com profile] encrypted_minds and see if that can get you started on writing again? ^_~

[identity profile] arithion.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I like that idea ^_^ I'd have posted one if I could think of one =x

Even rewatching PoT lol

[identity profile] sinistera.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
4. Your sister needs to wake up. v_v; I wish I could offer advice, but all I want to do is smack her.

[identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 10:21 pm (UTC)(link)
*friends you* ^_^

And so the PoT AU authors living in London stalk each other.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
That can SO be a PoT AU fic in itself!

[identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I am getting definite Images, but they owe a lot to the fact that I've written a scary amount of AU Cyberpunk fic set in London, and the fact that I can turn almost anything into Cyberpunk anyway. And also to the fact that [livejournal.com profile] dystopiarcadia and I are on our third bottle of wine. I should not be allowed to write comments at this stage, I feel.

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Excuse me for my ignorance but what's Cyberpunk? 8D

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
nvm I just found it on WIki 8D

[identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes... It's basically what my fic Gentleman and Trickster is, in terms of the style of tech and all that.

It's a genre I discovered relatively recently -- I'm making up for lost time!

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, because I only read the first few paragraphs, so I didn't realise! MUST KEEP AWAY FROM FICS WHILE WRITING.

....which also means I MUST WRITE FASTER. *chants to herself: 1.5 chapters to go~~~*

[identity profile] giving-ground.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
To be fair, it isn't extremely cyberpunk until later on. The first chapter or two are just a little bit so -- then later on I started playing with virtual reality, and things like that.

1.5 chapters to go? Same here, actually. It's becoming something of a mantra, though I haven't made any progress for a week or two now...

[identity profile] miiol.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahh, I know what you mean! It's a bad thing to try and work
out, I believe! For me, I don't have many friends, and I'm
a nosy person who likes to make more friends, so, it works
out very well, I think. ;D Hahahahah. UMM would you like me
to see if I know anyone you don't know who I think is cool
like you and be, in the words of [livejournal.com profile] drdood, THE FRIEND MAKER!?

Hahah XD

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-07 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] yuki-scorpio.livejournal.com 2006-01-09 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
With the sort of doujinshi and the fanservice now we get at Tenimyu, it's impossible to unlove Atobe and Tezuka~~~

[identity profile] mildlyinsane.livejournal.com 2006-01-11 12:20 pm (UTC)(link)
*DIES AT YOUR ICON*
