Sep. 24th, 2005 12:08 amNow that
semishade has pointed it out, the "school" LJ userinfo feature really is a bad bad idea. There are enough stories in the news about children being stalked and groomed in chat rooms, thinking it's safe to give their personal information over and then end up in paedophile's hands. I'd hate to think some guy can read a teenager's journal, comment in it, learn all about the kid and befriend the kid and then turn up at the kid's school gates just because the school feature passively encourage people to make that information public.
(If you ask me, this feature is never going to grow. With volunteers, they won't ever be able to keep up with updating the list and verifying entries. It's an unsustainable idea to begin with - they've bitten off more than they could chew.)
Right right, going to bed now, really.
