What do I need to do to get Windows Media Player to play DVDs? Install codec (from where), or just fiddle with ffdshow? VideoLAN only plays (sketchy) sounds...

Just ensure you have the latest version of FFDshow and Media Player Classic 6.4.8.2...
Normally it should work afterwards... DVDs don't need codecs.

Date: 2005-01-14 01:49 am (UTC)Normally a commercial DVD should play smoothly since they are made to be run on DVD players not computers so no codecs can be installed.
And either VideoLan or MediaPlayer Classic play DVDs without anything extra... so I'm quite intrigued.
IF your DVD is a legit commercial copy, you might want to try hitting the playback section of AnimeSuki and ask if anyone can help you EVEN if it's not an anime problem... you might be lucky (or not).
