Woke up a while ago, turned the TV on and watched the last bit of a special programme/documentary of the tsunami disastor, followed by a 5-minute donation appeal.

To be honest, when it all happened I was in Paris and didn't watch TV, read newspapers or online news. I didn't know what had happened until I came back to London. And since then I hadn't watched any news about it, because my sis always changed channels when the news come on (too horrible, she says).

And after the oh, 10 minute of TV watching just now, I agree with her. I can't bear the scenes shown on the screen.

There will be no news watching in my home for the next month. It isn't because I want to turn a blind eye on what's going on with the world. It is that watching it makes me cry.

I agree *hugs*

Watching the news makes me feel like a voyeur... It's like we're all getting some tragic form of fascination out of watching it.

That's the only way I can explain it...

It's just so real that it's surreal... and it not only makes me sad, it scares me too... not just the disaster, but the way we react to it. Its fine to help those people and we have to do this, but there's a morbid fascination that's lasting far too long... at least for me

:-(
and i accidentally missed the 3 minute silence while I was in the shower as well.
not that i odn't stay silent for the better most of the day.

In the chinese forums I just can't bear to watch those people laughing at the disaster, it just gets me so angry I am actually speechless.

in HK there are huge donation campaigns going on, recently made a donation, hope it will go to those in need =_=

Oh man... I watched that programme as well, while I was doing art... and it made my eyes all wet and stingy. I don't like to watch news about it either, because the images on it are so very horrific, and sometimes, learning about the plights of people make me so feel so very helpless, and a little useless, as though I am watching from the sidelines, and somehow detached, yet feeling for them.

Gah. I ramble. Anyways, I know what you mean about not wanting to watch the news... though my home's television is permanently on CNN, which really doesnt help. *sigh*

*hugs* Get better soon too, k? <3

I don't watch T.V. at all, I found out through Renna Roo :x The thing is, I don't like watching things like that. It hurts too much to see it. It's easier when it's anime, because you know that no one really gets hurt, but the line stops when it gets to real life. It's just too tragic and hits too deep to make me want to really see what's going on. I've actually had people tell me that I should 'know what's going on in the world,' :/

My response to them was, that if the world hurt that much, then I wish I didn't live in it. So I understan a bit, you know ♥
