Can you help?
Jan. 10th, 2004 08:51 pmI've (finally) sat down to start my interim report. *sigh* I should've started it weeks ago. And it's due in on Tuesday!!!!
My degree marking system goes like this:
1st year: 1000
2nd year: 2000
3rd year: 3000
4th year: 3000
Final year project: 1000
Totalling to 10000 marks. I think this interim report (of the final year project) is about 10% of the project mark. Which makes it oh, 1% of my entire MEng degree. It is important though, coz doing it will help me do the actual project later. But I just can't get myself started... >_<
Wanna ask something, since everyone's from different countries... is where you come from heavily promoting the ideas of "reduce, reuse, recycle"? Do people automatically sort their recyclable stuff from regular garbage before dumping it, what sort of incentives do they give you to recycle, do they teach it in school, etc? *offers cookies* Please reply!

Date: 2004-01-10 02:41 pm (UTC)I wouldn't say it's heavily promoted, but it is promoted.
If I can be of any more help I know a bit about recycling in the UK, and know others who know more - so just ask. Good luck with the assignment!

Date: 2004-01-10 05:17 pm (UTC)I'd go check the green book, except it's in bits & pieces now, and logging on to IC VPN to check always make my net connection go funny, and I'm trying to download things... ^^"
Let me know when you find out!

Date: 2004-01-11 12:22 am (UTC)I don't remember being taught this kind of stuff in school other than being told that sorting trash helps reducing usage of natural resources ( oil for plastic, etc ). The recycling system has been around for some time, with varying degrees of success. But yes, they're promoting it heavily. In the city I live, there is even a 'trash bureau' that offers professional help if you're not sure how to sort your trash. This is also where you can get those different trash bags and order the cans.

Date: 2004-01-11 12:24 am (UTC)We were never taught in school, there's hardly anything on tv/advertisment and people uses plastic bags far too much. I think we're getting a bit better now, trying to catch up with the rest of the world. But we're still very very behind.
