Fun times with goop
Sep. 11th, 2009 10:47 amPapier-mache'ed the back end of the Gay Bolt (lol), next is gesso-ing it and then sanding down for a smooth surface. My pot of gesso is quite old, not sure if it'll still do the job, but I don't want to get a new pot because the stuff isn't cheap, at least not in comparison to other things anyway.
Anyway, how did such small amount of flour and water end up producing that much goop? And I ended up only using very little although the object isn't that small. I can probably make a papier mache cast of myself with what's remaining. Put it in front of the living room window and scare away the thieves!
Have an idea about how to make Emma's breastplate if I ever need to make it (a friend said she might be interested). It'll be quite an operation, though, involving hinges, metal fastenings and modroc. The last time I used modroc was art GCSE. But that's okay, a lot of things I've made for cosplay were first attempts and they all turned out fine. I have FAITH! \o/ On top of that, I am suitably pedantic where it matters but am also learning to just fudge it where it doesn't matter. It is a very important skill. *nod* Anyway. PLASTER. FUN!
I didn't get out of bed until 8:30 this morning and didn't get to work until 9:40. Nobody cared. Not sure if that's a good or a bad thing.
Holiday plan, or lack of one. About taking time off, it's not going to happen because parents are coming at the end of the month and staying for quite a long time. They'll be staying with my sister, but if I do take time off they'll naturally expect me to spend the time with them. And although I love spending time with them, that is not what I need, so I might as well just keep working, make more £ and spend it on hobbies and going out, etc. That will hopefully keep me sane until CNY, when I should be flying to HK. Then after that... I don't know.
Made a mistake when uninstalling Firefox from work computer and putting the settings onto Firefox Portable, so now I've lost all my bookmarks. Oops. I shall remain zen about this! *Renji-faces* -_-
