It took me half an hour to write this reply:

"We have completed a site walk last week and have started on the drawings, though unfortunately the technician who had walked the route from start to finish with me and therefore understands the route the most has been seconded to London as of this week. The progress is therefore not as fast as hoped. Could you give me a date when this needs to be finished by?"

Which was as polite as I could make it. The first draft of the response included the word motherfucker.

I've got tons more done over the past week because none of my staff were in. Although, my new manager still seems to think I have mystical psychic skills and can write advice on papers he hasn't actually sent me!

(went in early and ploughed through today so I could home early and watch the footie!)

Sigh, for my work I can't do most of the stuff alone, which is ironic because I prefer lone working! But your manager sounds rather like mine...

We had the option of watching the footie and then making up the loss work time through the week, but only a handful of people took it up!

There's too much for me to do alone but I'm at the end of my rope for trying to get other people to do it properly right now. And, my new manager is a nice guy, but a bit removed from earthly practicalities. Used to be a management consultant!
