Saw a beautiful tortie cat on the way back. Can I bring it home?

Work today was looking at some proposals for a new road. So, would you like the partial solution that only helps existing rat-run a little and in the future when demand increases the pollution and annoyance to the locals will still increase, or would you like a new road over there across those nice fields? Please select from one of the followinig options: 1) Environmental Damage A, 2) Environmental Damage B.

Also, one can be 100% sure that the designers had never been on site when one sees that the proposed route goes directly under existing electricity pylons, and parts of the road is also apparently on embankment directly under pylon cables. OTZ (Yes, this sort of shit designing does happen, and more often than you may think.)

Since I got back early, I hopped to town to look at buttons. Wasted an hour and didn't manage to find anything for the waistcoat. The places near work didn't have anything good either. This is going to be a serious problem.

......I think I have randomly decided that Athlum Castle has loads of cats, just like the palace in Istanbul. In fact, Athlum has lots of cats, just like Istanbul.

(Sometimes, looking at screencaps of Athlum reminds me of Istanbul, actually... just the feel of the place...)

I think I approve of that decision. I wonder what Torgal makes of all the cats?

Celepalais and Balterossa both have that sort of feel, too. Lots of draped fabrics and market stalls and so on. Hmmm.

Damn, now I want to look at my holiday photos from Istanbul. Next time I write a fic I know where to look for location references!

I like the idea of Torgal secretly sneaking out of meetings and so on to feed *his* palace kitties. And buying them little cat-toys and looking abashed when caught doing so.

I need to dig up our Istanbul photos, actually. I don't think we got anywhere near putting them online. :S

Indeed. That young man knows Athlum so well, it's as if he owns it. Rush is intrigued.

Awwww. So very very cute. Blushing Torgal time again.

And he has a suspiciously upmarket accent for a local, and he's so friendly and kind and even gives Rush a brand new leather coat. Rush wonders if this man might be some sort of spy, perhaps attempting to recruit him.

I wonder... perhaps the royals at Athlum are really down-to-earth (like the Norwegian royals) and just go out and mingle with the locals all the time, so the market people are like, "oh, here's Lord David again!" but doesn't do anything special about it. And then when they try to call him Lord David he goes "shhhhh" and points at Rush and they're like, "oh, right. *smile*"

And this friendly and kind guy is a bit touchy-feely, too. Is this how Athlumians are like?

AND THEN SOMETHING HAPPENS, LIKE RANDOM MONSTER INVASION AND DAVE TELLS RUSH TO GO HIDE, THEN RUNS OFF leaving Rush standing there wearing the nice leather coat wondering if he'll see him again. D:

Aww, that's fairly convincing, really. I can see the bartender giving him this really big wink of 'OH. Oh, right, of course. Here's your beers, er, Mr Nassau.'

And then Rush sees Dave in the eyepatch as the battle winds down and is all confused. Dave has two perfectly functioning (and very pretty) eyes, doesn't he? And why is everyone listening to his orders? And why won't the sword lady let Rush go up and talk to Dave?

...because their love is all fairytalish and adorable. And because Rush is so good at being the clueless princess.

Heh, well Dave did just very casually wander down Xiphos Way when they first took Rush to Athlum in the game, so yeah, he must be pretty friendly with his people! (That sounds wrong. >>)

Then the crowd that'd gathered to watch starts to disperse but Rush is still standing there, and Dave is telling people to fall in and saying well-done and people are saying thank you Lord David and... wait????

And then Dave oversees the clearing up and spots Rush standing there.

............Rush in a dress again? In a tweed dress?

Hm, good point. And unlike in Elysion, people didn't seem to feel the need to stop and stare.

Awww. And Rush would probably bolt in confusion at the idea of a *noble* having been so interested in him. So Dave would have to chase him. Or get Torgal to do so, at least.

And Torgal catches Rush not knowing why Lord David wants him caught, so the catch is more like *twist arms around the back because this must be a criminal* sort of catch. >_> Then Torgal marches Rush back to Dave who goes dsfhsjklfsa erm Torgal please release him!

Dave: The commotion must have shocked you. I hope you're not injured?
Rush: ...I wasn't until just now. =/ *shakes his arms out*

And then there is an awkward pause, until David sighs and tries to explain why he didn't tell Rush in the first place.

And Rush gets all nervous and defensive about anything dumb he might have said while being escorted around Athlum.

I sincerely hope there will be photoshop work on that dress picture. Wow.

And then Torgal coughs and asks if the soldiers are allowed to go. And Dave doesn't know if he should head back to the castle or stay here, and Rush is looking at him and...

I'm sure that can be arranged...

I think David will have to offer to finish showing Rush around Athlum. Including a tour of the castle. It's only fair, as an apology for not fessing up earlier.

If he has to defer this offer until later due to responsibilities at the castle, well, maybe he and Rush can watch the sunset from his personal balcony at the castle. ;)

In the background, Emma gasps and says they don't bring outsiders into the castle and what about the background check and and and! And Dave goes, "it's fine, Emma." And Rush feels all special. :)

The balcony gives the most amazing view of Valeria Heart. It's awesome and Rush wants to come again. Um, because of the view, of course. But the view of Valeria Heart & Athlum, or the view of the Dave? He doesn't specify...

Aw. Dave knows that Rush is an innocent soul who couldn't possibly be up to any harm. Just see how all the cats seem to trust him.

It's going to take Torgal and Emma a while to believe that Rush isn't just playing up to that belief so that Dave will trust him, I guess. They're only looking out for Dave's safety.

I think we know which Dave hopes it is. And I hope Dave invites Rush to spend more time with him, perhaps at a situation in which a tweed ballgown would be an acceptable outfit. :P

Would that mean that whenever Rush is around, Torgal and Emma will take turn spying on what him and their Lord is doing? XD! Until the day David pushes Rush down on a bed and tears his clothes off and Rush flails and squirms but doesn't say no? And then Torgal and Emma realises that their lord has very firm control of the situation. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
