One of the biggest problems I have with writing is when two or more characters know what's going on and they talk to each other about it. Because they know, they wouldn't be spelling it out in the conversation, otherwise it'd feel unnatural. It's nothing to do with cryptic-ness, just natural-ness. The difficult thing is to gradually let the what's-going-on come through anyway so that people reading the fic knows what the heck's happening.

*pokes at fic* Character A and Character B, I know you aren't being deliberately cryptic, but this is getting ridiculous. I am the only one who can understand your conversations. orz

I completely agree with this. Show not tell is a great idea in theory, but sometimes the characters take it too far. XD

Totally. ;; Especially in this story I'm working on... there isn't even much to show. *tears hair out*

Can't you have a character who doesn't know what's going on ask them..?
