I'm sort of in a state of 'buh?' because for the first time in probably 50 years or more, my mum's family is not doing Christmas Eve festivities. I'm really at a loss because...that's the one family tradition I could totally count on. Even if some people couldn't come or were with their in-laws, everyone else always got together. I don't quite know what to do.
IT DID!! I am saving it to open until Christmas. Amazon notified me that your package was sent, so it should get to you before Christmas.
Well you've spent this year running around doing things for family, so maybe this holiday you can just sit back and enjoy some quiet time with the husband!

That's what I'm thinking. Hubby and I keep saying one year we're just going to run off to Hawaii or Mexico and spend the money we would have spent on Christmas. There are just so many kids, none of which are ours, that the feeling arises more often than it should that the only reason they want us at any of this family stuff is to buy meaningless junk for their spawn. And, well, not to be altogether selfish, but one reason we don't have kids is so we can spend our fun money having fun. XD (We had dinner and stuff with my dad and brother/sister-in-law last night, and she's pregnant again, and she's all 'I want you to get pregnant and have a baby'. No thanks. I didn't say anything, but I think the glare may have communicated my feelings.)

That sounds like a good plan! You should reward yourself. I dread the day my sister starts having children. Me/children is not OTP. Hope nobody expects me to be a nice aunt. DX and lol, your sister wanting you to have a kid? Why should she have any say to your reproduction? "I want you to get pregnant..." Sorry dude, you don't always get what you want. Funny how people want other people to do things that have absolutely nothing to do with them.
It's not that I dislike the children themselves, it's just overwhelming to be expected to buy presents for all of them. The one incoming will be the ninth, and I just know my stepsister will have to get pregnant when she hears my SIL is, so that will be ten. TEN. Even if we wanted to have kids, we couldn't afford them because all of you people expect us to buy crap for yours! *fistshake* I know, my reproductive choices should totally be baby-centric because that's what someone else wants, right? It's just irksome and makes me feel annoyed.

..........getting pregnant is a competition? orz Many years later, she tells her kid, "Yeah well, I didn't really want you, but my sister had another baby so I had to have you." Imagine that. I totally vote for the two of you to go on a holiday or just not buy presents for the kids. Nobody should be obliged to give presents like that!

It is when you base your entire self-worth and identity on being "a mother". I don't get why they aren't trying to enjoy the ones we have, rather than obsess about making more. Trust me, I'm more than content that my biological clock is flashing '12:00' permanently.
