Sat down and watched 22 episodes of Gundam00 season 1 yesterday.Will try to finish it tonight. It's good, but not to the extent of "I'll go check out the fandom", probably mostly because of what I've said about watching series late. I just can't get excited about it (ie if my downloads are destroyed and I can't get the last few episodes off the internet or anyone, I'll just shrug). HOWEVER. Seeing there's S2, that might change...?

Probably also doesn't help that I won't be able to write fics about them unless it's crack. Look:

Finished Vampire Knight S1, too. Ah, shoujou. It's not amazing or anything, but for what it's aiming for it's done well. Will definitely watch S2.

I want to watch Gundam 00 too, but I don't really feel like doing catch-up now that season 2 is already out. Alajsdifj damn you accounting.

I never really managed to work up much excitement for the first season, maybe because saw it after everyone else, or maybe because of the structure of the show being a bit wonky. It took a long time for me to give a damn about any of the characters. S2 seems better though, for whatever reason.

So far my "care" about the characters extend to "lol I wonder what he'll do next" but not "I'll be really pissed off if he dies" (which would be my favourite PoT characters, any main char from Vampire Knight, most of Code Geass, etc.) Somehow Gundam00 characters haven't really got much sympathy or empathy from me yet.

But yeah, #1 reason I haven't written 00 fic = "Wow, I really don't care enough about any of the characters to want to write them yet" ...I'm in it (mostly) for the mechs, anyway. But there are much lulz to be had if you are as easily amused as I am ;_;

Gundam 00 is excellent, but yes, I agree. It takes awhile to really care about the characters, particularly when there's quite a few of them. The fandom isn't extremely fantastic or anything, but it seems to have grown overnight with the release of the second season.
