Jul. 15th, 2008 01:51 pmAm I bad?
(Way to go, man. Putting words in my mouth - and admitting doing so - and then saying I was impolite when I'd explained why I was impolite in the first place. And finally saying "it's done" after exchange comments that really weren't needed in the first place to make me look like a really bad guy. I don't know what to say apart from giving them a thumbs-up! Not the only one responded with sarcasm initially, but the only one from the bunch who went ahead to try to give a helpful suggestion of LJ-Cut etc to remedy the situation. So yeah. Surely I'm a bad person.)

Date: 2008-07-15 12:58 pm (UTC)I mean, I can't read what you've answered, but hopefully it's something very very disrespctful and impolite...^-^
god, I can't believe those idiots! I already wanted to write a reply, but I'll refrain for the moment...later though...}:-> *rubs hands*

Date: 2008-07-15 01:02 pm (UTC)I do believe in diversity and internet bringing all sorts of people together and it might be seen as quite unfair that everyone should use English on the board, but only communication can bring integration and unfortunately most people don't speak that many languages.

Date: 2008-07-15 01:08 pm (UTC)you are so right! I mean, I can understand what they're saying (which makes the whole thing even more ridiculous and stupid) since German is my mother tongue, but my first reaction was annoyance about the fact that they didn't bother to write this entry in English...in a mostly English speaking community!
but I don't think that they possess enough intelligence to understand what you're implying with your comment...*facepalms*
p.s.: I so love your icon!

Date: 2008-07-15 04:06 pm (UTC)The sad (well, not sad for me XD;;;) fact is that English is the language spoken by more people as a second language than any other language in the world. It's the language you're probably going to be able to find someone to speak with if you're in a random foreign country (on average, at least), so it makes sense that it's the language of the net.
IIRC there are a few non-English comms aren't there? Isn't there one for the Pinoy girls? On those comms--sure, you'd be expected to speak the language of the comm. On a generic comm, where only English has been spoken? English, hon. English. I find it hard that you could so easily "forget" to post something in the language everything else is posted in, but I guess it's an accident -_-;;

Date: 2008-07-15 04:18 pm (UTC)Lots of people on the comm aren't native English speakers, but they try anyway, and I really love that because it promotes integration. I mean, they could be great people, but I wouldn't know unless we start talking to each other and English is the common language. Maybe if we become friends I can start learning a bit about your language and culture! But the first step has to be communication in a way we all understand. The "comm rules said nothing about this being an English comm" excuse is just so, so lame. The comm rule also didn't say you can't announce on the comm that you're going to stalk uh, Shirota Yuu for serious. It is Tenimyu related, but sometimes... you know? A line needs to be drawn. So I totally agree with you!
I think there are German and Spanish comms, but not sure about other languages. Personally I would've settled for English intro + LJ-cut to German text, since that comm is large and all that...
She said she forgot. *shrug* I'm more "..." about her making me out to be a bad person out of other people who also replied, because I tried to give her a suggestion to turn the situation around. Meh.

Date: 2008-07-15 04:37 pm (UTC)she only replied to me once (and that in German) and I already saw that this is a lost case, because if someone is stubborn and stupid, I'd rather save my energy for something else...*shakes head*
still thinking of pillar Saito icon...seriously somebody needs to make this baby! ^-^

Date: 2008-07-15 05:24 pm (UTC)I am actually almost amused at her tone. I mean, she is the one who made not one but two mistakes here, not counting the content of her post at all, which might well be legit, and yet she takes that tone with *you* of all people, someone who's been around the PoT and Myu fandom for what must be going on what, five years now? The way she talks down to you just leaves me speechless.

Date: 2008-07-15 05:57 pm (UTC)I don't mind who's been around for longer and that sort of thing. The thing that frustrates me is all her responses are based on my first comment to her, regardless of what I said to her in the comments that followed. Because my initial comment that was very short and she couldn't understand was just SO BAD AND NASTY that she couldn't read anything else I had to say. orz
[edit] That said, when she said to me "To your teacher or your principal you wouldn't talk like that. Think about it why you wouldn't." I just totally went WTF? Who do you think you are???

Date: 2008-07-15 07:15 pm (UTC)At which point I went "......." and prodded the mods. They replied quickly and said they're looking at it.
I try to put it down to miscommunication, I really did. But.... argh!
no subject
Date: 2008-07-15 07:21 pm (UTC)And no, I don't think miscommunication is the problem, I think she doesn't have a clue what she's talking about. It's actually a little sad, because she is the one who looks like a dolt, not you. :/
Okay, no really, I have to say it, because this isn't personal. HOW, when posting to a big com like that, do you forget to write at least an intro in English????? I don't get it. Sure it mightn't say in the rules that English has to be lingua franca, but DUDE. And also, how do you not cut an entry as long as this, *especially* if it's not in English? She gives Germans a bad name, that's what she's doing. And then, she's all bitchy and entitled. She's from Cologne, too. HMPF.

Date: 2008-07-15 07:29 pm (UTC)As it turned out, half the time when she said "German" she meant "people living in Germany" rather than "people who are German in nationality". And then she got all pissed off when people misunderstood her.
It's a bit worrying because now I go on it and I see almost all the comments have been screened - apart from mine. >> Maybe the mods are trying to read what's been said and there are too many coments, all jumbled up. Maybe the OP did it for whatever reason. Ah, I just don't know.
[edit] Oh, right, it means everything's been screened, but when I go of course I can still see my own comments. orz I'm stupid. (except I can still see a few comments from other people... what dooes this mean? XDDDD)

Date: 2008-07-15 07:36 pm (UTC)>_> I'm just sitting here, not believing it. She writes exactly how I talk when I'm doing valley-girl-German. *blinks* You know, I loathe baching people. I feel bad for having such a strong reaction to her. :(
I can still see some unscreened comments, which still make her look like an idiot. >.
