Syl and Sweeney
Jan. 27th, 2008 01:01 amI did not spend my whole Saturday working on 40.5, thank God. But it did take away a chunk of the night.
Last night
giving_ground and I went to Oval for drinks with
dystopiarcadia because it was her birthday. Dean the Bike has received new funky lamps. Today us three went to watch Sweeney Todd and then had dinner at Frankie & Benny's. Um, there was something mildly amusing about eating a full rack of BBQ ribs after watching Sweeney Todd.
Sweeney Todd was... good. I didn't like the songs much; usually I come out of a musical humming one or two of the songs, but this didn't happen today. The lyrics felt more like spoken dialogue that were sung, rather than made into song, if you know what I mean. But mostly it was the lacky of a catchy tune, I suppose. But not every musical writer could be like Tim Rice...
Acting-wise, Johnny was very good, but I don't think it was Oscar performance. Helena Bonham Carter was a bit weird in the beginning when she was first introduced, but as the film progressed it seemed like she warmed up to her role - which is strange because of course they don't shoot scenes in sequence, so it must be me warming up to her as time went on.
I'm still trying to find a suitable table for my flat. Preferably a coffee table-like, low one. We used to have one at home where the legs can be folded underneath. One of those would be really brilliant.
Here's a wish list for anyone wanting to get me things:
- butter dish (and nice plates and such)
- table
- spice rack
- a very good bottle opener
Huh I don't know why I'm still up. Should go to bed.
