I never remembered anyone else's. Still, these days I don't even know your number or Syl's or... err, my dad's home phone number, actually. Before cell phones, I used to remember everyone's numbers by heart. And then things changed.

I think cell phones make it less justifiable to not keep in touch. So easy to look someone up. If you write a number down and lose the paper or misplace it, then you can use that as an excuse. It's harder to misplace a phone (though I still manage to do that >_>). It makes me really sad when I think about someone I used to be close to and realize I've forgotten their numbers, when I used to know it by heart. It's funny how phone numbers sort of...represent things.

Now I think I'm gonna write myself a note to remind me to print out all my numbers from my palm once I get home. I only know Drae's landline, Ina's number if I try very hard, and a couple of very old numbers from pre-cell phone days. If we ever went apocalyptic disaster I wouldn't even know how to reach my mom. >_>

I remember most of my friend's numbers, I've always had a great memory for them, although cells have made me lazier.

I still keep a separate phone and copy my contacts carefully, the act of writing them down is quite romantic.

And yes, when I'm deleting contacts, it does feel that I'm deleting people from my life and it freaks the hell out of me too.
