1. There should be some argument here about the stuff that Konomi produces these days (quick and unconvincing way to end D2, not giving me what I wanted to see from Renji, etc), and how PoT belongs to him and he can do what he likes, but at the same time once a piece of work is published and it gains a gathering, then it can be argued there's almost some sort of social responsibility that Konomi has to bear which does not mean he has to do what the fans want, but probably does or does not at least include not taking cheap shortcuts because dude, YanaKiri vs InuiKai was seriously something to look forward to. (No wonder the manga can end before the end of this year.)
   
   But instead, all I'm going to say is: did Inui get attacked by fire? And why didn't Rikkai (or at least their D2) get disqualified for nonsportsmanship?
   
   Oh wait, was I trying to make sense of PoT again? Oops~!

3. nympholepsia said YanagiNiou is Yanni. So, should NiouRenji be Niji (rainbow)? That'd piss Yagyuu off royally, for the rainbow is his trademark! (.....?)

I saw 359 pics...er, somewhere, and I think it's safe to say that Atobe's shortlived haircut will be nothing compared to the general shafting of Rikkai and their fans. I suspect the best to look forward to is a quick canter through the next 2 matches (if played) so that Echizen's victory over Yukimura can be enjoyed to the full.

With the sort of stunts he pulls these days, I wouldn't be surprised if Yukimura stays benched for the rest of the manga. =_=

I agree wholeheartedly. I mean, I expected the finals to be bizarre, and I've actually been fairly pleasantly surprised by the lineup Konomi chose. But the way he's starting to rush through what had the potential to be some of the best matches in the series? Not good at all.

Why do all the horrible things happen to Inui? D: I'm pretty sure he can't have children after the yakiniku thing, and now this...

I wonder why the editors at Jump allow him to do this. Even with his popularity, Jump/Shueisha editors should always be keeping a leash on their mangaka. =_= It's such a waste of PoT characters.

Exactly... As soon as the rumors started flying about the manga ending so soon, I knew this couldn't be a good thing for the fans. I mean, this is the climax of the whole series (or at least it's supposed to be). It's not like it's some consolation match... It's the National finals! D: Get off the crack, Konomi, it's finally killed one too many brain cells.

We fans may just be forced to re-write the whole match. Though I guess some of us already have, technically. :D

Trying to make sense of most anime/manga series seems to be an extremely dangerous thing to do. XD;;; I'm... unimpressed, though, yeah. It feels like we've wasted a lot of time getting to this stage and now we're being rushed through what should be the most important matches (regardless of team bias, which I never claimed to lack XD). Sure, it's Konomi's story, but I really agree with the sort of responsibility thing; he's not doing his own series justice, either, as far as I can see.

And I have to agree with Giving_ground. Mummy!Inui looked so special (maybe because he reminded me the Invisible man). That's just me and my weird references.
