I guess at lot of people have heard about this already, but journal of fanartist has been suspended because of an entry made to a community. Take necessary precautions, people. Be careful of what you post and where you post it, who can view it. You can get done for even if it's on a community, not on your own LJ.

(I thought they said they'll ask people to delete offending entries, before suspending or deleting journals. Maybe my memory is wrong. Or LJ team is not doing what they said they would.)

I wonder if LJArchive can be used on communities. word_games was made back in the days when comm journals still had passwords. I want to back it up just in case.

Speaking of LJ policies, I seem to remember LJ staff (could have been Brad) saying we have JOURNALS here, not BLOGS, mwa-ha na-ha. Not that I know what the difference is. But recently I've noticed that on the LJ front page, if you're not logged in, it says LiveJournal.com - Start a Free Blog / Journal Today in the title bar of the browser. Because, I suppose, everyone knows the word BLOG these days. Oh, commercialisation. orz There should be a "LiveJournal for Dummies" page soon, considering how much they've tarded LJ-up to suit the tards.

Can a kind soul please send me some Tenimyu songs, such as the Petenshi song, Mou Mayoi wa Nai, Dream Maker (Minami & Aiba version), Finalist, Climax, Shaba Daba Dabide, Yuudan Sezu ni Ikou and some random others? I'm sad without myu music here. D:

The one thing I'm really curious about is that it seems like creative fiction has a lot more room for "forgiveness" than art, if my interpretations on the posts lj_biz and news are correct.

I also wonder if the offending piece of fanart was posting on DevArt, and then linked to LJ by a text link, would have changed anything. I really need to find a way to ask LJ staff this. It could affect a lot of people.

That's not an LJ thing but a general attitude I think, since movies do have age restrictions, but books general don't. And it's a lot "easier" to see if a drawn character is underage, as opposed to something written about, because most fan fiction doesn't even state the age of the characters. (Since everyone reading already knows anyway.) Would be a little too time-consuming to check canon for that.

Except when you have characters like Tezuka and Sanada who do not look like 15 year olds >>; (But yes, excellent point. Things like Harry Potter... everyone knows they're kids, even if they haven't read the books or seen the movies. But once you get into anime fandom and such, most people can't be arsed to give a damn, really >_>)

Could it be argued that "I draw this as Harry in Year 13 of school, so he's supposed to be 18"?

Even if Snape's supposed to be dead at that point (maybe, I know nothing about HP, I'm guessing), can it be argued that "I'm not following canon"?

It could be argued as AU, I guess (as Harry is 17 in the last book, and yes, you are correct). But I don't think LJ (or WB) cares if it's AU or not >_>;

I'm wondering about the art link question, too. I have a friend who often posts links to her art on her website, rather than posting the actual images in her journal. She's not in HP fandom, which seems to be more the area of focus these days, so she hasn't had any trouble with LJ, so far.

I feel sorry for Pond, because she's such a nice person, but I wish the mods of that comm had locked all the entries. An ounce of prevention really is worth a pound of cure.

I agree. After their brush with Strikethrough, communities like these should be more careful. They set membership to invitation-only, but anyone can still view entries if the author hasn't locked it, which still makes itself a huge target. Of course, members are responsible for what they post, but comm mods can help make people feel more at ease, at lease...

-I'm fairly certain this is fact, as one girl's journal was completely flocked. So either LJ's sneaking where the needn't be, or someone on her flist reported her.

which means if I post very personal things, meant to be shared with friends, and a "friend" just feels like being nasty and fake-reports to LJ, the LJ team would barge into my journal and read said very personal things. And probably decide I haven't violated rules. But I'd feel violated.

Yeah. It's creepy (and part of the reason I rarely, if ever post things that are so personal they'd come back to bite me in the ass if someone I didn't want reading them did) and really... they watch just about every move you make in the states. Privacy be damned >_>;

I could understand going in and checking out a post/journal of a person that could be harmful to someone - a pedophile, someone trying to kill themselves/someone else, plotting some sort of terrorist act against whatever government, etc; but this is just... well, stupid. Who really gives a fuck if we're writing/drawing works of fiction using fictional characters, if we're writing rape or non-con, if we're writing teacher/underage student. (And while I'm on it, why haven't I heard anything from the furry or bestiality communities about this sort of thing? If LJ/6A's hoping to do away with what they deem 'immoral' or whatever, I'm pretty sure that would be on their list of stuff to get rid of, too.) It doesn't reflect on us as human beings or what our real-life tendencies are, so why should it bloody matter so much?

I suppose there just has to be one policy and that one policy has to let them be able to deal with the truly rotten, so everyone else that gets hit with it is just bad luck. It doesn't make me feel very much better, but... sigh.

Technically speaking, you can be banned from DeviantArt for posting smut, so most people tend to avoid it. (Like, artistic nudity is okay, but intercourse/blowjobs/pics where genitalia is the main focus are on their big list of THOU SHALT NOT POST). But that's DevArt policy, not LJ. So it's kind of a shady area, really =/
