Story ideas are slowly coming back to me... this time it's concerning a little Tezuka and his senpai Yamato (but it's not Yamato/Tezuka!)

:D!!!!

[edit] (because I don't want to start yet another entry)

I just declined signing a letter written by coworkers regarding the increase parking costs coming into force at 1 April. There's a limitation to the no. of parking permits (paid by company, usually given to managers) available and some coworkers are paying £2-3/day parking fee right now. It'll be increased to £5 and they want the company to do something about it because it's unfair how some people got permits and the new fee makes it hard to stomach.

I refused to sign because although I recognise there is a problem with a permit system, I don't agree with some of the points set out in the letter. Moreover, I myself pay £3000 a year just for travelling to work. I'm not the amongst the lowest earners in the office but close to it. And here they are, people earning more than me screaming bloody murder that they'll have to pay £5/day. Reality check: the fees were low to start with and now it's just falling in line with what it should be. People in Oxford pay £9/day. Just suck it up, man. The company isn't doing anything for me, why should I sign a letter to make them do something for you? Go take the bus or train or buy a bike or something. Arrange car share. If you say I should just move closer so that I don't have to pay all that travelling expenses, you can move closer too. Or just buy a couple less beers per week.

Wonder what sort of position not signing my name puts me in with the rest of the office. Hmm. But my boss isn't signing too, even though most of the rest of them are signing. Wouldn't say I don't care what they make of me through this, but... really, just quit whining please!

Parking stirs up more office controversy than anything else I can think of. My employers have had to ban discussions of parking on our intranet forums because of the serious amount of vitriol generated. Personally, my favourite comment has always been one from a rather silly individual who thought she should have parking privileges because she had to feed her horse and clear out its stable before coming to work.

At our company you have to pay 50 Euro a month for parking, but the ticket for tram and buses is free. But even if we had to pay for them, they would be cheaper than buying them themselves, as the city wants to promote taking public transportation. The company probably gets taxes benefits too.

I would haven't signed if I were you, too!
