It just occured to me that, when I meet [livejournal.com profile] shiroibara this Saturday, I'll be surrounded by Americans for a week. That means listening to American-English for a week.

Honestly, I know a lot of my American friends love hearing the British accent. Well, sorry, but most of the British people I know, myself included, wince when we hear the very heavy American accent from some parts of the States. (I suppose south-central isn't too bad though) ^^"""" It's funny really, it's just a different way of speaking more-or-less the same language... it's probably more to do with people taking stuff and then calling it their own and then imposing it back on you? ^^" (I will always be spelling SULPHUR even though it has officially been changed in the Periodic Table, see. If we change PH to F and C to K just for easier spelling, soon we'll be speaking German!)

In any case, I'm not going to like, California where the accent is just O_O!, so I'll be just fine XD Bought some dollars today. Will need to think about what clothes to bring, later. Hana, can I just take hoodies and jeans or will I need a smart top + trousers? Because I have no idea where we're going XD

Oh god I think you're in for a ride with the Southern twang. D: California isn't bad unless you have Valley Girl speech (but most people don't speak like that). Then there's New Yorker/New England accent.

XD! Oh dear, this is going to be interesting...

Well, as long as I can understand the announcement at the airport, I'll be fine. I've spoken to Hana on the phone before and I understood her, so at least we'll be alright on that front~! XDDDDDD

Oh airport announcements should be accentless. XD hopefully. at least the Atlanta airport is accentless and that's in the South too. Depending on where you go though, you might encounter the Southern twang. It takes time to get used to. I lived in the south for 7+ years and I'm still not used to it. XD;;;

But what's really fun is hearing the Canadian accent. Oh man. XD;;;

British accents have variations too right? Because I was watching Little London (I think that's what's it called) and one character has this accent that sounded like "commoner/countryside" English. But the guy who hosts the British version of Whose Line Is It Anyway has hot, sexy, pretentious English. ♥

British ones? Oh, you bet. There's the Scottish accent, the Irish accent (which founds funny and cute to me) and then there's the Geordie (Newcastle) accent which always makes me go O_O???. The commoner/countryside... I know what you mean but have no idea what it's called.

Even in London you can hear where people come from. David Beckham speaks with an East End accent, which sort of indicates his background isn't too good, and isn't nearly as "classy" as the standard London accent (which would probably be what you mean by hot and sexeh XD).

And then there are specific ways people speak, not necessarily really an accent, that will tell you they are from, say, Essex (East England). But then again, you can probably tell someone is from Essex just from the way they dress XDDDDD

Wow, I didn't really type all that XDDD and now my British friends will come and correct me very soon! XD
