Erm.

You know when you defrag a comp, what (I heard) it does is move the data/programmes that is used most often to the front and put the least used stuff to the back, so that overall it works faster? Like when it starts to get warm, we put away our winter clothes until we need them again? Is there a term to describe this process? I thought of "archiving", but am not sure if it's the right term and I don't really like it anyway...

It does NOT archive the data. I don't think it moves the more often used material at the beginning either. What it does, though, is reorganize it that chunks of same files are all closed together instead of being spread all over the hard disk.
