They opened an inquiry on Princess Di's death.

Okay, whether her death was an accident or not should be known, coz everyone deserves at least that. But my question is, why the hell are people so... taken by this woman? I'm not that fond of her. And if I tell any Brits that, they'd probably throw rotten veg at me, but I'm just being honest.

Looking at her life, and I'm not saying Prince Charles or the Royal Family had been good, but she hadn't been the perfect woman everyone said she was, either. She had more even affairs than Charles did, for God's sake. I'm not going to call her a slut. She was probably just looking for happiness her marriage couldn't give her, but being betrayed by your husband doesn't guarantee you rights to have an affair too, right? Especially when you're a public figure, and have 2 sons who have to deal with *both* their parents seeing other men/women, with the whole world knowing about it.

If you say she was beautiful, that was true. If you say she was kind and did a lot for charity, that might also be true. But there are thousands of women out there giving themselves entirely to charity work to make the world a better place. And we don't even see them or acknowledge their work!

So is it just me who isn't seeing things clearly, or is it the rest of the world? Is it time to wake up?

Oh, it's all part of the enduring media hype that the Brits are all supposed to have loved Diana. They didn't. I didn't. I felt sorry for her when she died but a lot sorrier for her sons and that's as far as it's ever gone. Vaguely sympathetic to Mohammed Al Fayad as well - in so much of this, people seem to forget that he lost his son.

That's so true. And the media's making it like a tabloid story now it's almost disrespectful to all the parties involved >_

It's also an age thing...

You're both probably too young to have seen the whole saga get created in front of your eyes...

I'm not. Diana was a few (only a few, sadly) years older than me... I remember my mom (like lots of people around the world) was up at 5:ish on the morning of their marriage, to watch it on TV...

And I'm French-Canadian... we couldn't care less about English royalties... but there was a whole "cinderella" magic about said marriage (of course, it was all created by the Windsor family, but I disgress)... and people kept on seeing her as the virgin & blushing 19 yr-old girl... the poor girl who married for love & romance and got her dreams crushed!

I remember refusing to watch it on tv and staying in the kitchen to make dinner instead! I couldn't look from her to Charles and still see a fairy tale romance.

Well I only saw the re-run, but I know what you mean ^^"

I guess it'd feel different when one watches her fall in love, get married and then die this way, but I still think some people have gone way too far. Even before she died she was such a celebrated personality it's scary...
