State of the Nation address

eolo, I'm trying to get back to LJ more. Gently easing myself in. Luckily this place (or my corner of it) doesn't seem too busy lately, I can probably do a reasonable amount of catching up.
I'm attempting to start writing again but so far this year I've managed, oh, maybe 200 words. Things are not looking good. I haven't watched any anime for months now, and I've hardly read anything.
storme gave me "Never Let Me Go" as part of my birthday present though, so who knows, I might get started again.
Speaking of birthday, I had a great one with
storme,
dystopiarcadia and two non-LJ friends Clood and Sarah G. There was much food, cake and drinks! Got some lovely cards, and Storme showered me with presents. XD Ummmm got some photos but I haven't sorted them yet. Anyway, one of the presents was an Xbox Kinect, which we started playing with yesterday. It's quite fun, but oh god the fitness game is so tiring. We're both seriously unfit. I can feel the pain in my legs and bum and I bet they'll remain painful for at least another few days.
We've been in the new home for more than a month now, but we still haven't got curtains up. I'm desperate to get the office sorted out so that I don't need to dig through boxes to fill shop orders, but I can't do that until next month when I have the money. This month I need to pay for the old place to be cleaned for handing back to the landlord (long story short: couldn't renew the tenancy for less than six months, had to pay 2 months of rent for an empty house, this month is the last month). The consolation is that this will hopefully be the last time I ever need to pay for that sort of thing.
Work is still the same. A director who left the company recently said that for a company to be a good place to work it takes good projects, good people and good politics. We only have the good people these days (and there's fewer and fewer of them now) who have to deal with a lot of bullshit and bollocks, basically. If there's a bet I'd put money on me getting notice in April and not having a job by June. I honestly wouldn't be sad about it, though if that does happen I'd need to worry about finding a new steady source of income.
I'm still sitting at a shitty desk at work which doesn't allow me much internet time (even if there's nothing to do one's gotta look like one's working), and when I'm at home I usually am playing games or making stuff so I don't get on chat. So if anyone wants to find me, LJ and FB are your best bets. I do have a DW account too but I never post there, it only exists for me to read other people's posts. And I always forget about it anyway, I probably haven't looked at friends' DW entries for months now...
Finally, a thought: why is a shoulder dislocated when it's popped out of the socket, but not relocated when it's put back? :P
