Should hopefully have my original phone number back this weekend. Still means I've lost a bunch of contacts though. :(

Finished all the painting on the cosplay jacket. The patterns on the brown side panels are quite unobvious though. Attaching lining tomorrow which will be a doddle. Found the right fabric type that is the right colour for the full chaps - except it's too thick. Honestly, I'm not wearing 2mm thick faux suede in August, and that's over my grey pleather trousers! Even if I hack those and just attach the chaps on, which I might do since the trousers were dead cheap and I won't miss them, that's still too thick and hot. Yeah I might stay indoors the whole day, but still...

Still no gold chain. Also, the magnetic ear studs I got might be too small. Might spend another £1 on a different pair.

Syl will be visiting this weekend. There is edamame waiting in the freezer. >D

Didn't realise Brave New World is being made into a film. Should go read the book finally...

If it's still this hot tomorrow, I'm going to work in a dress.

Actually I'm only typing this entry because I'm waiting for the glutinous rice balls to cook. Now that they're done, I shall go have my dessert fix and then go to bed.

Booked train tickets for Aya. They got here very quickly but I didn't check them until this morning...

Virgin Trains only sent me the tickets for the return journey.

I foresee long, annoying phonecalls. [edit] wow, it was painless! I can pick up the missing tickets at the train station.

(Lesson learnt: next time, print tickets at station or choose e-ticket option.)

Was in London for a meeting yesterday. Blah blah traffic counts blah flows blah modelling blah LINSIG TRANSYT ARCADY blah strategy blah, for hours. Yes, that's what Traffic people sound like to Highways people. I'm sure the reverse is true as well. It's a wonder I didn't fall asleep. I think I kept myself awake by staring at the project manager thinking, "she'd be a good Emmy cosplayer."

[edit] Forgot to mention this! Essex/East Anglia cosplay picnic, 31 August (bank holiday Monday). Anyone wanna come?

So, am I the only one keeping up with the news on Sakai Noriko?

Something just reminded me of this incredible show.

電波少年的アフリカ・ヨーロッパ大陸縦断ヒッチハイクの旅 (Hitchhiking across the continents of Europe and Africa with Denpa Shounen) was a reality TV show from 1998, in which a radio DJ from Hong Kong and an aspiring actor from Japan were left at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa, given 100,000yen and told to go all the way to Nordkapp in Norway, ie. from the very south to the very north.

They had to earn their own money for food, travel, shelter and to pay for visas, get over cultural barriers and overcome lots of difficulties. They had one cameraman with them, under strict orders that unless they were actually very sick and dying, the cameraman was not allowed to interfere.

It was really good, inspiring, heart warming reality TV. (Never imagined reality TV can be described as such, heh?)

The Japanese show, with Chinese subtitles, can be found in 16 installments here. I wonder if it's available in English.
