I'm back at work.

This week is one I don't think I'll ever forget. Live 8, 60 years war remembrance, Olympics, and terror attacks, all within 5 days of each other. Through these events we witnessed the very worst and the very best of humanity.

I'm eternally glad the emergency services were so well prepared. I'm so upset that they had to put their emergency plans into place. I'm very proud that Londonders are determined to carry on as normal, and very mad at those who try to compare the attacks to 911 or the daily bombings in Iraq. You simply cannot compare these things. It may be of a different scale and frequency, but these things cannot be compared with each other.

I spent almost all of last night watching the news. Like many friends know, for some reason I'm very detached and unsympathetic to people's individual problems, but very sensitive to disastors. This is the last post I'll write on this topic until I can come to terms with it.

[edit] I got an email from dad: "Don't just stay glued to the TV news screen all day - it works on your psychology and is unnecessarily bad for you. Either turn off the TV and do something enjoyable or go out for a stroll in the park or something. Do not make the event bigger than it is in your mind." I think I'm going to take his advice.

I nearly had a heart attack just now. My sister left work 3 hours ago and still hadn't got home, wouldn't answer the phone, Sai and I had no idea where she was. But she finally picked up the phone and is on her way back. Needless to say, the stress of it all is getting to me.

I read fanfic just now, supposedly written by a good author... and ew. Ew. Ew. DEATH BY ADVERBS. I recommend her to read "On Writing" by Stephen King. Not that I'd really tell her, because I don't know her well and she won't take it well anyway. Such is the sadness of not being able to give con crits anymore.

Sis just entered the door. *flops dead*
