I suddenly remembered I read this Swedish fairy tale the other day about a hedgehog prince........ I'M JUST SAYING. Dunno why Niou got turned into a hedgehog but I'm sure he's pissed off enough people. (It could talk, but no-one wanted to kiss it anyway because HEDGEHOG & also it was super-obnoxious.)

This is good. Really good. An enthralling read (my staying up the whole night to finish it in one go is testimony to that ;D) and an inspiring one as well. Let's put it this way, if I weren't interested in TeniPuri at all this would still be a very interesting story that's truly thought-provoking with a unique style for me. Plus, she's got a way with words that simply floors me every time. The author has managed to dig deep into the characters, their relationship, their thoughts, their past, present and future. Her troika's personalities wonderfully retain intact, not through abrupt and stereotypical description but through a through and complex buildup, layer after layer, and everything merges seamlessly together to form an image of the story's Sanada, or Renji, or Yukimura in your mind's eye. The result, simply put, is beautiful and powerful. Faithful to the original, but doubtlessly original and profoundly-explored. Overall, the pace of the story is nicely controlled, and no side character loses a moment of vividness either. (The Yanagi-Sanada relationship and the way in which it was portrayed in particular leaves me aching every time I read. Simply and elegantly put, the fear, the confusion, the pain and everything else between them was just. So. Real.)

But somehow people writing fanfic on the internet seem to always have this particular style, commas everywhere and using Japanese terms unconsciously - like "部活" - and it makes me cringe. It's almost as if these people never read actual novels and don't know they're straying really far away from proper prose? That's why I shy away from reading Chinese fics so much, it just reads weird.
..Um not very sure where specifically he strikes you as "normal" and "psychotic" respectively? Maybe his actions can be better explained with the progress of the story. It unfolds gradually, and some things aren't explained till later on. Also, gotta keep in mind which parts are subjective and which objective. Just try to keep it in mind, cuz twists come later. :)
Oh I've finished reading it, but parts of it still didn't make sense to me, I mean in a logical sense. Yukimura's abusive tendencies got explained (a bit too late in the story, IMO) but logic-wise things don't seem to work, or maybe it was sacrificed for plot. Actually by logic I guess I mean common sense, like how Yukimura was allowed into the Sanada family home after he returned to Japan, despite what he'd done to the family. Surely no sane person would even allow him to step through the threshold? Stuff like that. Or how Renji chose to leave the moment Yukimura showed up - despite his low self confidence or his feelings that Seiichi would always be more important, having witnessed what Seiichi had done in the past and actively tried to protect Sanada from it, would anyone really just walk away, in effect saying "I'll allow it to happen to Sanada all over again?" It just didn't make any sense to me.
Haven't found better than yours OTL read yourself? XDDD
But there are ones that deifnitely match yout talent :D
