I've watched a couple of End-of-Year TV shows and overall had the reaction of "Really? That happened in 2010, not the year before?" I think my concept of time is a little warped, so my recalling of events is going to suffer as a result.

I think this would be more interesting if I wrote it in proper paragraphs, but it's my first day back to work and I've slept four hours, so I'll just do what I can.

Back in January (though actually it was before that...) I started going out with Storme.

At around March I decided I was going to start an online cosplay supplies shop. I wrote the website, found the suppliers, did all the legal hoopla and it went live in June. The room [livejournal.com profile] giving_ground used to sleep in became shop storage. XD It's going okay so far, not making enough money to cover what I've invested into it yet, but then again I haven't really put enough work into promoting it etc.

Also around March/April someone I really hate joined my company who has been nicknamed Darth. He's still here and I still hate him. Work, which had started deteriorating since end of 2008, got to the stage where at one point I dreaded going into the office in the mornings so much I often cried on the train. But somehow I survived two rounds of redundancies, one in June (?) and the other in September. I still wish I got made redundant because I still hate this place; the management has really gone to shit, and from chatting with coworkers who are now ex-coworkers, they only didn't want to lose their income, but didn't care about the company anymore either. But I suppose losing my job would've made buying a home pretty much impossible.

I don't think anything I'd worked on in 2010 actually got built. But I didn't have many real designs anyway, it was mostly studies. They should be ripping things up in London for one of my schemes soon-ish though.

In the middle of the year (?) Storme moved in with me, along with all the books in the world.

Around August (? I don't even remember when) I bought a two bedrooms, two bathrooms flat in Colchester off-plan, which Storme and I moved into before Christmas. Since moving in we've been unpacking, painting walls and buying inane things like lampshades, mop and ironing board cover because we haven't got the cash for the couple of big pieces of furniture we need. XD

And now for stuff that aren't time-specific:

There had been a lot of cake throughout the year. \o/

I made loads of friends in 2010, some of whom are actually based near where I live which is a welcomed change. Also met some nice people in the sewing class I'm attending.

On the cosplay front, I got a lot more into this hobby and made Zidane Tribal, Faize Sheifa Beleth, Flynn Scifo and Daryan Crescend. I also did a few for-the-laughs ones such as Rob, David Cameron and Hansel. Faize got featured in the Cosplay Fever Red book, which was pretty cool.

I've hardly written any fic this year. There'd been a TLR oneshot-snippet-thing in March and another one in June, that was all. I kept trying to write but work-related depression had zapped everything from me, and I had to pull out of Ayla's fic exchange at beyond the very last minute which caused her a lot of problems.

Game-wise there had been some replaying of old games (Afterlife by Lucasarts, for example) and some new ones such as Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope (weird, annoying at times but still fun), Infinite Undiscovery (uh... I see what they were trying to do but the game was really not very well-made), wait those were from 2009! The Professor Layton series (♥!), Resonance of Fate (surprisingly addictive), Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (fun), Lego Batman on DS (fun), FF13 (disappointing), Guitar Hero: World Tour (:D) and probably others I can't recall right now.

I started listening to more symphonic metal and like the Dutch band Within Temptation a lot. I also listen to Nightwish and Epica sometimes. Eminem is also making me happy, as usual. My music collection at work is still a very varied mix - soundtracks, cantopop, rock, jrock, classical... basically many genres. It keeps me from getting bored. I also recently realised I really like Elton John's music. Not necessarily him singing it (though depending on the song that's quite good too) but I like his musical arrangements and compositions very much.

I went to the cinema (in the last two years) more often than the last decade put together, and also watched a lot of DVDs. Off the top of my head there'd been Up, Airplane, Inception, Zoolander, Scott Pilgrim, Toy Story 3, Spinal Tap... and I don't remember what else right now. I'm pleased to say that I liked all that I saw.

Books... you know, I don't actually remember, but I think I'd hardly read anything. There was the Prince of Mist, which I enjoyed, and a few others which I probably didn't love as much which would be why they've slipped from my mind.

I hadn't watched much anime/read much manga either. Ludwig Revolution was fun, and I'm liking Grand Guignol Orchestra a lot (need to get the next volume(s)). Kuroshitsuji is way better in manga than anime. I think in the first half of the year I spent a lot of time gaming rather than watching stuff, then the second half too busy with life to even play games as often as I wanted to.

Didn't see any new musical, though Storme and I did go to the Wimbledon Theatre to see Spamalot again since it was on tour. :D

And ah, TV. Loved Sherlock (episode 2 was a bit meh though). Doctor Who was entertaining but not very gripping. Still like watching news/political satire and stand-ups. Watched a lot of How I Met Your Mother because of Storme which is quite relaxing and fun. I also found myself enjoy Star Trek: Deep Space Nine quite often when it's on rerun, though I heard that some fans dislike DS9. Couldn't get into Next Generation or Voyager at all.

All in all, it had been a strange and eventful year. Mostly excellent despite the occasional clusterfucks.

I wonder if this year is going to all blur together like last year.

I agree with the 'excellent despite clusterfucks' assessment. I think I may end up swinging by your office with a shotgun one of these days...

Woah, I thought your shop was opened much more recently. Time is so confusing. ._.
