I want a Flynn icon
Sep. 15th, 2010 10:56 amA coworker who has been made redundant at my office has been offered a job at the London office, but because his current pay is pittance and they aren't raising it at all with the London offer (and there's the £4000/yr additional travel to think about), he's turned it down. From what I hear, at the London interview/meeting, they made it clear that they were /desperate/ for people like him but the-powers-that-be would not allow higher pay. It was frustrating for everyone concerned. Another example of how management have no idea what's happening down here and have no active interest in it.
A few of us sat around just now and had a chat. The consensus is that given the way this company is heading, coworker's decision is a good one. He's from a wealthy family, lives at home and has no dependants, and he's still very young, so he can afford the break and have a rethink about what he wants to do in life. His line manager, who is on his notice period at the moment, said if he was without a job right now and there's an opening in this company, he wouldn't apply because this place is going to shitz. When he said it he was quite apologetic to me and D, since we're both still working here, but we both just said "nah, we agree with you."

In other news, I will be helping out at the Cosplay Extravaganza at the Barbican Gallery on 6 November. Coscraft might or might not have a stand there depending on their marketing department's decision. More details nearer the date!
Good thing Volpin Props has made a record of his EVA armour making. For some time now I've been telling people to try EVA foam, and I have plans to sell it at Coscraft, but people weren't showing much interest and I thought I'd need to first put together a tutorial to show how good the stuff is. Now that big guys like Volpin Props and Evil FX have done it, I can probably start selling and worry about the tutorial later. Me though, I learned about it from cosplayers in HK. The costume I'm making, which I linked to yesterday, also has part of its armour made out of the stuff. It's so EASY, seriously.

Two more things: 1) My cat is fluffy, 2) I need to stop clenching/gritting my teeth; my jaws and gums are tired.
