Need to catch up on the music meme. I'll make a separate post for that.

I'm now officially late for the D1 exchange, and I'm still getting NOWHERE with the fic. Plot points just Don't Join Ip. I think I'll have to pull out and apologise. But, gonna give it one last go today first.

Went to a cosplay picnic last Saturday. Photos are here and there's a post about it here. On Sunday Storme and I met up with her friends and we chatted the day away, migrating from food place to food place around Spitalfields.

When I'm not sulking over fic or doing stuff in the great outdoors outside the house, I'm working on this. The discrepancies between official art/in-game/anime make things rather confusing but I'm doing my best. I'm also going to (try to) help Storme out with her Yuri's blastia. Hmmm electronics.

Been reading things about the sexual assaults at Dragon*Con. Do read all the comments. It sounds far too scary, yet I'm just shocked and not surprised. And then there was Pan's report on the serious overcrowding at FanExpo, to the extent that there are many reports on it and people are making youtube videos and arranging a boycott. If this continues, people will either stop going or go armed with pepper sprays and put up with overcrowding rather than go outside for fresh air. One can hope that these things will never happen over here, but it's only a matter of time, because my impression is that as events get larger, usually people don't wake up and do what's necessary until something goes horribly wrong. I wonder how much they spend on security at MCM Expo, for example, and if that security is mainly to protect the merchants and their profits, or if they're there to protect the attendees. I might be quite blind, because I don't remember seeing members of staff being easy to find...

Ugh. I've only ever been to one big (by my standards) con, but that was YCon. I don't think it gets much safer for women than that.

Comiket doesn't count, but omghelp the crowds!

The weird thing about Comiket is though, despite the crowds, I always felt like I had more personal space than the same situation in other places. It's like that in Japan... maybe because even in a crowd, the Japanese people don't seem so excitable and ready to elbow or step on each other...

Yeah, in a Japanese crowd everyone's an invisible island. And that's not even a cheesy thing to say, because it's true. Although sometimes, like at Comiket or on the Yamanote during rush hour, you may be a very squished island... :P

Those boots you're working on look incredible!

Thanks for the D*C link! We had issues with sexually harassment at FanExpo last year. I'm very sure it happens every year, but it's only when people are given a (safe-ish) place to actually talk about it, do they speak up.

And two links of possible interest:

I'm glad people are talking about it. It seems like this year because of a group of non con-goers they had it especially bad at D*C...
