pezMy music is reminding me of Obsession!Tezuka. Oh, that was such terrible fic, but also very addictive. In a way I'm glad it never got finished.
The whole "government cutting budget deficit" business is coming down hard. Together with the change of government, we're losing major pieces of work at the office. It's getting quite horrific. I wonder when the next round of redundancies will be. And it really pisses me off to see a rival company winning whatever projects that are still around when everybody knows they are SHIT. I don't know how they manage to make their prices so low - they're winning work but surely they must be losing money doing the work? And their work really is terrible. There have been a few times when a client appoints me to check the rival company's drawings and oh god do I tear them into pieces every time. (The general process is 1. ogle at drawings, 2. laugh at the terrible design, 3. cry at the fact that they are so bad, then 4. glee as I write a technical note that details how crap they are.) Not to mention that other ongoing job they have they're being sued millions for by the client for poor design... really, you don't need to be an engineer to know you shouldn't tell people to connect a lighting column to a road gully, or have a radius that some vehicles would have problems negotiating... I stood in for the site supervisor there for a bit and literally went WOT? at the contractor. All they could do was smile sadly and sigh. (The client should've paid a third party for the drawings to be checked, too. Really. orz)
Home purchase: got another viewing this weekend, after that I'm pretty sure I can decide on which place to buy! There are three contenders at the moment. Still need to shop around more for a mortgage though. The date of the actual move depends on which place I pick, because one of them is actually off-plan at the moment.
Randomly, I want to turn on Fable II today and see how much rent money I've accumulated during the months (year?) of not playing and maybe buy everything that's available to buy in the game with it. XD
Haven't kept up with E3 announcements. Wonder if there's anything interesting...
