Important question: what colour are Dave's earrings? Sometimes they seem blue/turquoise, other times they seem clear. O_o

Decent hotel in Clapham/Wandsworth area? Almost none. Any I do find, they don't take three people. In general it's hard to find places that do triple rooms. I've extended my search to Chelsea, Fulham/Earls Court and Kensington/Knightsbridge. (Also, sometimes there are special offers on amazing hotels but it's only available as double, not even twin. =/) I guess people generally don't travel in groups of three? Sigh. But whatever I find it won't be nearly as cheap as the Cardiff one.

VGL tickets via Ticketmaster: okay, I understand about the fee per ticket thing, that's how TM makes money. But to add £3 on top as "delivery charges" even when I chose e-ticket option? That's just out of order. But that's still the "cheapest" option and I don't want to lose things in the post. Sigh.

For VGL, in retrospect maybe I should have booked Park Inn because that's literally right across the road and if I really wanted to cosplay that's more convenient (although Radisson Blu is hardly another minutes' walk. XD) Anyway, now that there is a place to leave my stuff and get changed (and leave stuff with the following day until it's time to go home), I could cosplay if I really want to. I've got the hardest part of ballroom!Dave made anyway. the rest is just buying ready made stuff, so I've got plenty of time to prepare. Dave with Gae Bolg will be worn at October Expo, so maybe someone else? .................TONBERRY (stabbity stab)? MARIO (oooh, moustache)? A SAVE POINT (I'd be mobbed by FF cosplayers. XD)???? or make a spinny glowy crystal thing to wear on my head, wear sim-esque clothes, make speech-bubble cards and say I'm from Sims 3? I don't suppose anyone's got suggestions?

Hmm. I shall ponder on this. Not sure if I should or not. But guess I can still make whatever costume I might or might not end up taking, because making stuff is \o/. Realistically I can start on Zidane now and wear it there, since I need it early next year anyway...

Every time I type \o/ I can't help but imagine Rush throwing his hands in the air and shouting ACE! It's that bloody TLR/Heroes crossover's fault. I can almost see the word ACE! in tiny little letters above the head.

Work meeting again at 11. Fortunately I've delegated most of the work (!) so I'm only there to check the progress.

I think he actually likes The Gore although that's expensive. orz Taxi should take 15 minutes if Google Maps is to be trusted?

Of the others, Brewer's Inn is 20 minutes' walk. I don't know whether or not you want to walk late at night in that area. I haven't been to Clapham Junction/Wandsworth for years but heard it's been regenerated into a nice area? I think Jurys Inn will also be fine, and it's a short taxi journey. Wyndham Grand will be posh with facilities which we won't use, and much nicer looking.

It's been such a long time since I last called for a cab in London. Wonder how much a Clapham Junction to Chelsea cab would cost? Should hardly be anything, right? They look pretty close on the map...

I like the Gore as well but that's a three-person-room issue one, isn't it?

Hmm. I haven't been to that area in years either. :/

I am staring at a taxi fare calculator but I think my brain has switched off after work. Shouldn't be a vast fortune, anyway, as far as I can figure out.

I dunno, they're all pretty opulent. The Miss Ada seems a bit dull, maybe? And I'm sort of fascinated by the fact that the Tudor Room has a *secret* bathroom.

Yes, the Miss Ada (and Miss Fanny) rooms are both pretty, but we might as well go for the extravagant.

I can't quite get over the fact that the Lady Blessington has a mirrored headboard. Talk about kinky!

Yeah, the Miss Fanny is also a little less plush than the others.

I'm fairly awed by most of the rooms, though.

*nod* Overall I think I like Tudor the best.

They have other "deluxe" rooms if you just click on that rather than the named rooms, and poking around the reservation system there is no place to select which room you want. But there's a "comment" area on the booking form, could try to use that to specify and hoping that since we're booking this early they can put us there...........?

Yeah, I think I like the Tudor the most too. I am still quietly giggling that it has a minstrel's gallery every time I read the description.

I guess, yeah, we can be hopeful? And maybe list a couple of other room choices if that one's booked?

I'm so going to make you and Syl sing for me. :3

Just sent them an email to ask about this. Hopefully they'll reply... >>

(Also I can't help but be amused that we have gone from 'a fancy room' to 'the most beautiful bedroom in London' over the course of picking somewhere to stay.)

Remember Leucetius's reaction.

You know, somehow I get the feeling that the Tudor Room would be an exception and it'd cost more than the listed price. Gonna wait for the email reply...

(Dave wants to.)

Very true. Who knows what Dave might do to get his way.

Yeah, I'm wondering that. But it can't hurt to ask.

(He'll change his mind after about three syllables. Trust me on this.)

Um, not trying to confuse things further, but the Rookery is 20 mins drive away from Clapham (Gore would be 15 minutes I think). http://rookeryhotel.com/ - you can try playing around with the reservation thing... overall triple occupancy isn't possible but one could book a club single and a club double for £274 total, and that includes breakfast. Overall it's obviously less grand, but hey.

(I keep wanting to type Ghor rather than Gore. Maybe a Duke Ghor icon is required.)

(I think Dave wants to hear the three syllables anyway.)

The Rookery is in Clerkenwell, which is a bit more than 20 minutes away from Clapham, no? Or did you mean Hazlitt's?

*pokes around the reservations a bit, hmms*

(I think Dave is a very foolish man if he's willing to subject himself to that.)

Aw. It's a confusingly set-up website, I think.

(Rush is very lucky that Dave is the right kind of foolish, in that case.)

I've also managed to find a deal on lastminute.com for The Landmark family room at £262 when it's usually £350-400. But although it's very pretty the inner Dave isn't going wild about it like he did with the Gore.

(So Rush should sing for him.)

Yeah, I'm in agreement with the inner Dave. Also--the family rooms appear to be two double beds, looking at the website. Or am I misreading? I think the pretty rooms are the suites, not the family rooms.

(Rush may need to be plied with alcohol before attempting this.)

Also it is late and I must sleeeeeeeeeep.

Ah well. There's plenty of time to investigate!

(With Emma around, there will be a steady supply of alcohol.)

Me tooooo.
