Randomly looking up European destinations I can comfortably get to from Stansted and see enough of within a weekend without breaking my bank. I don't know. I'm suddenly bitten by the weekend-break bug. Leaning towards Italy. Italy's nice...
Gave my sister the detination list from Stansted and this is what she said. You can see why I chose not to do geography GCSE.
We went to Athens last year. I didn’t find that very exciting and people smoke everywhere! There is no “no smoking” area in restaurants! (I've been, anyway)
Brussels is boring (not interested)
Copenhagen should be sunny? That’s what my friend says (not sure)
Don’t go to the middle east (not thinking about it)
Krakow is rather beautiful (hmmm..... it does look that way...)
People say Madrid is nice, but I’ve never been there before. Madrid sounds too “coporate” to me somehow.. (same here, but it's still interesting)
[Husband] and I are looking to go to Nice in July for the sun (Nice. Hmmmmmmmm.......! Southern France. I've always wanted to go to Southern France.)
Pisa/Italy is always nice. Sienna is beautiful and good for a relaxing trip (Yup!)
I always want to go to Valencia! But there is swine flu there now (Is it particularly bad there? Coz there's swine flu everywhere anyway.)
Wroclaw is ok, but very small, only takes 0.5 day to walk around, but easy to get there by train from Krakow (oh~?)
Seville should be rather nice too. Beautiful buildings and open space (oh~?)
Verona is rather small. Only took me 0.5 day to walk around and then I got bored of it. but it is a rather famous city! (Verona always sounded interesting to me.)
Larnaca has nothing but a beach and an airport. But people there are super nice! (...where's that?)
People say Dusseldorf is nice with a beautiful waterfront, but I’ve never been there before (don't particularly feel like Germany (although I have "going to Germany" as one of my LJ interest. That's Tezuka though))
Bratislava should be rather good. Nice buildings all with red tops/roofs. (where's that?)
Of course, also poking at flights to Trondheim! I also just really fancy going away somewhere on my own, that's all. (Though, wouldn't it be lovely to go to Italy or Southern France with friends??) Nowegian.no has departures Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Thursday would be best but that's the one that arrives after midnight, wtf.
[edit] WHICH IS BETTER, VENICE OR NICE?
