To switch or not to switch? Of course you should always switch!

I have the sudden urge to write a really geeky fic full of footnotes and references people don't care or don't care to understand but me, which is fine because hey, I want to write it. The thing is, footnotes are easy to fit on the end of a page in a real book, but how do you do it on the screen? There was once I tried using mouseover tricks but LJ doesn't allow javascript and you can't fit much in an alt-text. =/

Anyway. The fic would be about D1 pulling shenanigans on the world and it would be called The Monty Hall Problem. XD

I think footnotes are more than adequate. Though, too many might make it seem more like an acedemic essay more so than a fictional story, but I guess that's where the geekiness comes from XDDDDD (Are essays and fic cross overs possible? -.- *scratches head*) I always say it's better to have the references there for the readers' knowledge than to leave them clueless.

Anyways, I suppose you could just link the word or phrase in the text to the reference you want, to give the reader the option of looking it up or not.

You could link the text to another page? So people could look it up. Or you could make super short chapters, so it'd be easy to look at the footnotes..but that might be annoying after a while >>
