5 bars away from Yiazmat's death.

Those 5 bars are IMPOSSIBLE to knock off. I've spent so much time, tried so many times already. Maybe I shouldn't have gone for it when I'm only lvl72-ish, but it's too late to go away and level some and come back, now. Yiazmat would regen and I'll have to start FROM THE BEGINNING.

Oh, what level are you? I had a really difficult time with on-the-verge-of-death Yiazmat, too; finally managed to get in some damage by regenerating MP through an Ether gambit rather than Charge or Syphon (which were taking too much time.) Maybe that'll help? It's still going to mean a character down every ten seconds or so, but at least the dots start going down slowwwwly. ^^;

(Also, I was under the impression from various FAQs that you could leave the arena and save? Just, err, lead him to the edge of the arena before you run, to cut down on the amount of time that you're in the arena and he can't target you.)

Omfg.... I've only got about 6 bars off him, there are so many! It's too painful to sit through... Ican't believe you've nearly defeated him! I think my party is around 91 and I still think it's crazy...

Not to mention the fact that i'm sour about Vaan's excalibur CURING him. Ugh.

My chars are at lvl70-74. Have about... 3 Ethers left. ^^" Have left the arena and saved, but can't go any further because he regens so quick that if I go and buy more items...

Tried turning off the curaja gambit because his Rake was combo-ing me so much there was almost no point in healing anymore. So it's mostly just Arise that I'm using. And I have no Windbreaker to shield against the Cyclone. D: Sometimes I get KO'ed so fast that all I do is Arise, and almost nobody gets to hit him. =_=

They're using Tournesol, Masamune+Genji Gloves, and Zodiac Spear atm... gave up getting Yagyuu Darkblade because getting Bombshell to respawn for chaining was such a pain. XD;

OMG, I made the same mistake with the Excalibur!

From my experience, the last 5 bars = all of the other bars combined, and worse. XD;;;; If you have enough items (chronos tears, mostly) and good armour get the gambits right, the first half shouldn't be too bad.

It did take me...... well, many, many hours, though. *sigh*

Oh, I thought from the wording that he only regens as long as you're standing in the arena but he can't target you? Am not at all certain, though, since I didn't test it out myself. >_> (Am really impressed that you've gone this far at level 70, btw.)
