Sep. 20th, 2007 11:31 am- Heard nothing about the Yagami DVD yet, although shop lady promised a refund if I don't want to wait for the post office. I think I'll stick it out for a while and hope it turns up. There's still time before I go back to HK anyway. In better news, my Kane photobook is now with a different seller in HK and she's mailing it to home, so it'll be there waiting for me when I get back. \(:D)/
- Totally ignoring the order of the writing list and worked more on the RE sequel. Been doing that since yesterday. Today, about 2 stops before getting to work, pieces suddenly fell into place and I suddenly have a very, very good feeling about this story. After about two weeks of complete stagnation, this feel good.
- Read Svengali [R, Sakaki/AtoZuka] by
pixxers, last night. It was brilliant, and that's coming from a die-hard ZukaFuji fan. - Ah,
pixxers, I read in the free paper today that the kid who cried over Britney on YouTube has been invited to have his own reality TV show. TV is just all sorts of amazing and wonderful. Or something. I hope you Americans don't have to pay TV licence for that sort of stuff, because if BBC tries to put that on their screens I'd... I don't know what I'd do. - But, I woke up too late and didn't have time to eat breakfast. D: Hungry. And I found very bad mistakes in the CAD drawings, woe.
- Don't like the way this boss creeps up behind me.

Date: 2007-09-21 11:51 am (UTC)I genuinely mean that too
lots of small online presses are taking original yaoi novels and well, it stops it being stuck in it's very small little POT niche and means everyoen can read it - because it is really good
eg http://www.circlet.com/
a quick google will find more for you but I would consider it
it deserves it
I'd suggest trials of trust too after a good going over to change the names

Date: 2007-09-21 12:44 pm (UTC)you'd have to for trials of trust, but not the city at all
why not submit it and see what they say - the worst they can say is no
but believe me - presses like this are gagging for decently written yaoi novels, and yours certainly comes under it
part of me says sod the small press and take it straight to warner (they give the loveliest rejection slips) but the whole assuming another identity thing might be considered creepy to a mainstream audience

So nice to see someone encouraging copyright infringement here.

Date: 2007-09-21 08:45 pm (UTC)if there was a single mention of them as teenagers, tennis players, or at rival schools then it would be
as it is they are all adults and it's entirely possible that the characters were named for that
I suggested the names be changed, because the story is so severely AU, but at the same time because it stays so severely the names don't need to be changed
http://www.copyrightservice.co.uk/copyright/p01_uk_copyright_law
When rights occur
Copyright is an automatic right and arises whenever an individual or company creates a work. To qualify, a work should be regarded as original, and exhibits a degree of labour, skill or judgement
Interpretation is related to the independent creation rather than the idea behind the creation. For example, your idea for a book would not itself be protected, but the actual content of a book you write would be. In other words, someone else is still entitled to write their own book around the same idea, provided they do not directly copy or adapt yours to do so.
Names, titles, short phrases and colours are not generally considered unique or substantial enough to be covered, but a creation, such as a logo, that combines these elements may be.
In short, work that expresses an idea may be protected, but not the idea behind it.

Date: 2007-09-20 02:42 pm (UTC)3. Oh, thank you so much. ♥ That story was really something good for me and I'm thrilled that you liked it. I love writing Sakaki the pedo and this story ended up serving as a prequel to the other Sakaki-the-pedo fic I wrote. :D
4. Oh, Chris Crocker. All I can think of is that reality tv is what other countries see and associate with Americans. And I am immediately ashamed. But he really does look fabulous in pink lipstick - not many people can pull off that particular shade.
