ROGERRRRRRRR!
Jul. 8th, 2007 09:38 pmChampionship point. I think there might be a bit of screaming in the end, so don't turn the sound up too much. :D;
Federer won. 3 hours and 45 minutes, a gruelling match, and voted one of the best in history. And I was there. I WAS THERE TO WATCH.
And so it began. It was real, REAL, WORLD CLASS TENNIS. For 2 of the sets they had to go to tie-break (both of which Federer won), but in the 4th set he played really badly and we feared he'd lose. Nadal played so well and had some amazing saves, but I noticed that Federer's service games were always over very quickly whereas Nadal's ones dragged on and on before he could keep the game. (BBC hightlights. Because I fail at describing tennis.)
Oh, about Nadal? Yes, we all know about the gorgeous arms, but: what a fine ass, too. And he has a habit of pulling his socks almost before every point (definitely after he's been sitting down) and
The atmosphere was amazing. There were some very intense volleys, sometimes no one in the audience made a sound, and then the whole place would erupt with clapping and cheering. Every time the ball lands on the line, or someone chases the ball from the opposite side of the court, or Federer serves another ace or does another one of those backhands that makes the ball fly just over the net, from one corner of the court to the very opposite corner, the crowd just collectively *GASP*, or *AH!* or *FLAIL!*

....anyway. In the end, as you know, Roger won. *points at video above* I have nothing against Nadal at all, but I like Roger better so I was ectastic. They got given the trophies, Roger talked quickly to the BBC, then walked around the court. (big pictures, sorry) And we flailed, and flailed some more. I had a small breakfast,
Oh oh, and you have to hear this: we were on our way out (to look for food etc), going down some stairs, when we saw a group of around 20-30 people waiting. And I said, "hm, I wonder what this is about...?" We looked up, and those stairs were right next to a walkway in the club member's (?) building. That walkway had glass walls. So we were both, "it couldn't be...?"
We waited for like what, 10 seconds? ROGER FEDERER APPEARED. We were like what, 15 feet away from him? Separated only by glass. So everyone was waving and squeeing and he stopped, grinned and waved back and pressed himself right up against the glass to wave at us, HE WAS SO CUTE. No, I didn't take photos because it was totally unexpected and I was too busy squeeing to dig out the camera. Anyway. My point is, I WAVED AT ROGER FEDERER AND HE WAVED BACK.
I had such a great time and am still floating in a state of disbelief. I'm so doing this again next year!
