"Comm spamming"?
May. 9th, 2004 04:15 amYeah so, here is the dilemma.
There are so many communities for PoT, and when I write something, I don't know if I should crosspost to all of them. If I write something ZukaFuji, I can be posting to
tezukafuji,
potfics,
_tenipuri and in today's case, also
tenipuri500. And if I was still on
tenipuri_yaoi, I'd post there too.
Damn, I feel like I'm spamming people. But if you've written something, you want to reach as large as audience as you can, right?
What should I do?

Date: 2004-05-09 03:22 am (UTC)I feel really bad, because I think comm spamming is a pet hate... but there's really no other way I can think of to get my stories out to as many people as possible...of course I could be delusional in thinking people want to read them *shrugs*
*snuggles* hon

I'm sorry, but that's just unnecessary. I can tell you right now that those who friend potfics will friend tenipuri_yaoi. >_> (Who the hell writes Tenipuri het on LJ? I don't know anyone. >_>).
Two is okay. But when you start posting to 5 and the fanbase is pretty much the same, I want to just take off EVERYONE on my flist. -____-
</annoyed>
I'm not trying to bite your head off or even mad at you in particular. I'm just saying what I've been experiencing, and it's bloody annoying. I've got over 100 people on my friends list, and surprisingly, I actually want to read them all and know what's going on in their lives, and then I see three of 4 of the same posts in a row.
Me: *head+desk+repeat*
I have friends who have even larger flist and they've got the same feeling.

Date: 2004-05-09 10:15 am (UTC)Yup I understand ^^ I expected there to be different opnions since I did put it up as a question my LJ. ^^
Yeah that's what Arith and I had been talking about. Whilst some people don't mind at all, others find the crossposting really annoying... will try to limit ourselves in the future ^^

Date: 2004-05-09 06:06 am (UTC)well, it could be cuz i have very, very SHORT flist and joined not many comm, but that's also why i said, personally, i don't care much, if it looks repetitive i'll just skip, if i'm annoyed i'll just friend a particular author i like and filter others.

Date: 2004-05-09 10:30 am (UTC)I dunno, but if you feel uncomfortable about spamming then maybe you could post sort of a notice (like a weekly roundup of fics) on other comms, while updating one or two main comms? sort of like a notice for people who've missed it during the week or something. *is not helpful* eek! but anyway, hope you find some good solution. and good luck for monday :]
