Has anyone tried Safari (now available for Windows!), is it any good?

The cat with many, many toes

Two jailed after bridge built by blind man collapses - equal opportunities for the disabled?

Thinking of purchasing an internet security software since Norton has expired and it's using more of the system resources than I'd like. It's a contest between Kaspersky vs AVG. AVG is good, Kaspersky has stellar reviews, but although it's about the same price as AVG, the licence is only 1 year vs AVG's 2 years.

I could just stick to the free version... the thing is, because I'm using Microsoft's ICS, I can't use free ZoneAlarm as my firewall (using Sygate atm, don't like it much, it's ugly and annoying). So I thought I might as well pay for a whole firewall + antivirus software. Any advice on this?

(re Norton: after uninstalling it from the laptop, the average temperature of the machine has gone down by about 10C. What the hell.)

I think I've just about sorted all the email accumulated over the past 10 days.

BBC Breakfast had reached the pinnacle of being punny this morning. But I can't remember the actual puns. Something about bees...

I'm using Kaspersky and so far have only have one update problem that would have been solved immediately if I'd gone to the official website instead of on forums. >_> Other than that... how do you determine how good an antivirus is? By how many times you didn't have to reinstall Windows? XD

XD Well, then I can say even Norton's good. I've never had to reinstall Windows due to trojans or viruses. :D;;;;

How long have you been using it? Does it take long to start up after booting, and does it take up much system resource?

HAHAHAHHAHA NORTON. I'm instinctively wary of everything that comes installed with Windows.

I've been using the antivirus for years, and started actually paying for the antivirus+firewall around... last october? I don't have numbers on the other stuff (I'll check that when I get home), but I've never tapped my fingers impatiently waiting for it to start, or had to close it when using a lot of resources. Again, numbers later. XD

The only thing that annoys me is that every time it turns on it tells me that some of the features are disabled (the anti-spam, which sucks majorly in my opinion and that I wouldn't use anyway), but that's minor. I think?

Hmmm, looks like Kaspersky's worth considering.

Norton doesn't come with Windows, I'm pretty sure... AmazonUK wants like £45 for Norton IS. Some companies selling computers will include Windows and Norton, but the two are separate. The only common thing is that they both suck, but people (like me) still use them. XD

The evil little thing has been on every single pre-installed computer I've had to set up, but you still have to pay for it. 30-days trial my--

Er. Sorry. Yes. Possibly it doesn't really come with windows, but it seems like it does. XD

Safari is the default browser on mac, but I prefer firefox. If gmail would talk to it a little better I might be more keen on it. *grin* (Though with the newer version perhaps it will.)

I'm using Safari right now, actually~ *on my dad's shiny, shiny laptop*

It does... most of the same things as firefox, really. But less websites like this version. (On mac it does talk to livejournal better than firefox, although firefox has been doing pretty well at hammering out the bugs in the mac version lately.)

Um - I use Safari all the time (Mac user).

I love using it :) I'm not fond of firefox, it doesn't show me the little hearts in LJ whereas Safari does ♥
