Ne, I know some friends on my flist has went to Japan in the recent months... can you tell me how you found your accomodation, what it was like and how much it costed? Thanks a bunch :)

I booked flights and accommodation through the local branch of STA travel (http://www.statravel.co.uk/). The cheapest accommodation they offered was around £20 per night for a single room in a ryokan style hostel. I didn't want to share a bathroom so paid £40 per night for a tiny little room in the Grand House Chang Tee, which is a Chinese-run hotel in Ikebukuro. Breakfast was not included (but free Internet access was!). The prices for everything else started at around £95 per night, which was actually what I'd been expecting to pay.

ps! The guide books I read are actually a bit snooty about Ikebukuro but I actually liked it there. Felt surprisingly at home really (the rain helped). Also, it was *very* convenient for Animate and Kbooks and just about every railway line (except, of course, the one to/from Narita airport).

Second time? The price of a concert ticket, and the floor was very comfy! XD

First time... my dad sorted it out through the Welcome Inn Group, but I think that's a slightly more expensive option. Definitely go for the Ryokan option rather than hotels though -- they're fun!
